LR seems to have adjusted the Sand mode in TR on the latest D4.5 (2014 onwards) and it now holds onto the lower gears for much longer. On Fraser Island I found it useful only in the really soft, loose stuff and as soon as I was on the tracks or hard-packed sand I switched back to regular mode otherwise the engine would rev way too high for a diesel. 2005 D3 TdV6 HSE Buckingham Blue
