EPB D3 "swop out" for D4

Hi Guys

The EPB has been brought up a milion times before, I was wondering if anyone has swapped out a D3 actuator for a D4 Actuator?

I have not read anywhere about the D4 model having the same EPB problems?

thank in advance for any info.
Marcel

As the EPB module sits on the CAN bus, and the message length (message structure) is different between D3 and D4 I don't think they are likely to be electrically compatible - even if they are mechanically so.

Spot on Martin Bow down

I often see such electronic ECU items offered on Ebay being listed as compatible with both D3 and D4 but D3 Uses 29 Bit CAN BUS and D4 uses 11 bit CAN BUS and there is no simple or easy way to translate between them.

EG on an 29 Bit CAN BUS a diagnostic message sent from diagnostic equipment to the EMS ECU has a header of 18DA10F1 and a reply is 18DAF110 but on an 11 Bit it is 7E0 and 7E8 respectively.

Although many ECU's are physically identical, that often leads to this cross compatibility belief, the software is very different and is not typically a part of the flashable part of the software.

Thumbs Up
