Anyone know if not installing the pollen filter has any detrimental effect on the aircon or heater?
In my relentless quest to reduce the running costs of the D3, I am wondering just how important this $80 or so item is - after all, when I get out of the car I manage to survive OK on unfiltered air Ex Defender 110 200Tdi owner.

you'll be OK - but the HVAC system will end up with lots of cr@p in it and grinding noises as the flaps move and fan bearings seize etc.
