member name Filtering possibility
Just a thought or maybe more a hope and wish.
When I list new posts, i often see an enticing sounding thread, only to then at the last second notice the member name of the thread starter as being someone I regard as someone i would like to avoid and not encourage.
If at all possible, it would be nice to have a filter that meant I did not see any threads started by those i list.
Even greater to not see any threads from such members at all.
I live in hope.

The forum software, phpBB does have an 'ignore' feature but I don't think Martin has implemented it
I wonder who would be the most ignored Cheers Ian

What would happen if say a member changed the forum identity from one you recognise and avoid to a completely new one?
Actually scrub that or we could have another " find Dave " episode.
Hopefully I'm not on that list either Colin Defender 90 CSW MY06

Robbie, are you feeling unloved and un appreciated
Despite our not always being on the same page, i have always respected you as a major contributer to the forum with a huge degree of technical knowledge and expertise, i love reading your posts and as such you would probably be the last person on any "Ignore" list of mine, just to clarify

phpBB3 does, but this forum is phpBB2 with various mods, and I'm not sure that the ignore function is available.Mark.

Hi guys,
Not the first time this has been asked for, but I've never seen an implementation of an ignore function for this forum software that I feel is right.
The best thing to do, if you don't like how someone is using this forum, is to flag it up to me or the mods - either by PM or ideally via the reporting system.
Then we know someone is being a pain to a number of people and can deal with it appropriately.
Giving a tool for people to ignore others doesn't deal with the actual issue, which is antisocial posting. I'd rather people made it known that they had a problem with someone rather than allowing them to mute it. It doesn't actually make it stop.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

I would think it quite possible that a number of people have multiple identities on any given forum whereby one identity can be agressive and controvertial and the other all sweet and innocent. They might even reply to each other at times to make it look real.A vaccine does not stop you catching a virus, or passing it on, or getting ill from it, really ill. It does reduce the likelyhood of you dying when really, really ill. Stay Alive - KEEP AWAY FROM PEOPLE.
