Cracked inlet Manifold
Hi all, been driving around for last week or so and keep getting the restricted performance light on. Took it into LR last week and was told it had a fault code of P006A and they repaired the turbo compressor shut off valve as they said it was seizing.
As soon as I took the car up the motorway the restricted performance cut back in again. So booked it into the dealer and they said they couldn't look at it until Thursday this week.
So I have been going steady with it to work and back for the last couple of days but tonight coming down the Motorway I noticed it was making a whooshing noise so I took it straight into the dealer.
One of their mechanics has had a ride out in the car and a brief look under the bonnet with a torch and he thinks it could be a split in the inlet manifold.
They are going to have a proper look in the morning but the short and tall of it is they reckon that it could cost about £1400 +VAT in parts and labour if it is the inlet manifold.
My car is a late 2009 with 70k on the clock and out of warranty. My question is do you think the dealer is pulling my pants down at that price? As it's out of warranty would it be an easy enough job for a good independent to do?
And also at coming up to 5 years old with 70k do you think LR customer services would do anything, should this part have lasted longer?

Dealer has just confirmed that this is as feared and the inlet manifold is split I have something to say! It's better to burn out... than to fade away!

I was speaking to an LRA guy the other day and he has had a few split on 3ltr tdv6. I have had a few Tdv8 sportones split, but no v6 ones as of yet.
A smoke test machine is the best way to check for leaks.

I have also had on in that was split if you spray brake cleaner around suspected area that should show it up it was the drivers side. was not to bad to change when i got in there at it. cheers Wizz

Interesting. So it's an easy DIY? I am handy with the spanners albeit on simpler cars.D4 HSE all the way

i dont know about diy repair i have been working on landrover for the last ten plus years so kind of know my round them abit now. but no special tools needed so if your confident i dont really see it a problem

I was quoted 8 hours labour for this repair and was told quite a lot needs to come off the engine to do this. I have something to say! It's better to burn out... than to fade away!

Book time via Landrover RTS repair times 8.1hrs for RH inlet manifold

that is probably about it but dont reckon it would take me that long now i have done one and know where im going to start. I dont think the manifold is cheap around £150 ish i seem to remember and was on back order when i needed one. Wizz

Any update on yours? Mine was definatley a cracked intake manifold. All done now and the car feels as good as new.D4 HSE all the way
