Interesting feedback thanks. I am still in negotiations so I feel it inappropriate to discuss the finer detail at this moment in time; I'm sure you understand. What I can tell you is it was a crank shaft failure - doesn't get much bigger than that!

Yep had the same here.... Crankshaft in two at 30000 km. was preceded by about two or three weeks of investigation into a small knocking noise at dealers with no conclusion. Ended with excellent service and consideration from dealer and Land Rover NZ.... 2010 d4 if I can recall. Near enough 40 degrees South!!!

Well, what can I say? Land rover central and the dealer I use have been exceptional. My issue has been resolved and the only cost to me was my choice to change my car. To demonstrate my continued advocacy of the brand I've got another Discovery 4 - very happy!
