I suspect it's more dealership confusion on the roll out instructions ...we seen plenty of evidence of that so far. 21 year LR veteran > D2 GS 2003 > D3 S 2006 > D3 HSE 2009 > D4 HSE 2013 > D4 HSE 2015 > D5 HSE 2018 > DS HSE R-Dynamic P300e 2021

Shocking that Land Rover is this ill prepared!!, they surely did not think the VOSA notice had any real value, all should be replaced with fixed hitch if towing is going to be done.
rear members replaced if worn.
seems the sensible way forward for them, or remove the option of a removable hitch from the options and get a bolted type instead. FFRR SC 4.2
Rejected!! RRS2
Fit TDV6 intercooler hoses
Fast Road intercooler
De-Cat pipe
D3 to B4 front end Upgrade

Question ..Whats happens in the mean time if my self or someone else has the tow ball fail and the two part company with there d3/d4/rrsport ??
My D3 is booked in this week and as ive said tow ball moves beyond belief ..
Where do I stand as I need this motor 24/7 ??
I am going to have to hire another to replace it till this gets resolved.
Or will LR give me a d4 with tow bar while mine is repaired or new fixed tow bar fitted

Jesus will they ruddy well ever make up they're minds. I see it like this, they checked it, they passed it and if it fails while towing and injuries the pony or God forbid another person. I will drag them through every court in the land. Until I'm told otherwise by LR to stop using it I intend to keep towing. I didn't spend a great deal of money for it to be nothing more than a Chelsea taxi. In fact lets be honest, a car with only 64k on the clock should not need such items as front diff replacement. Totally shocking and unacceptable service. We don't buy these cars to show off. It has a job to do and if it can't do that job then it's time to punt it! That's it I'm gunning for LR now over this. It's time they sort it out. I bet they still fail to make contact with the owners. This is starting to look like a cover up.

Sorry that turned in to rant. Just fed up with all this back and forwards. I've got trips out planned and at the moment it looks like I will have to tell my daughter they're off. Siiiigh wish she was to something smaller than horses so it didn't need towing. Like hamster racing or goldfish gymnastics.

Or will LR give me a d4 with tow bar while mine is repaired or new fixed tow bar fitted I have been given a freelander (without a tow bar) to use whilst mines in getting a new crossmember and a fixed tow bar fitted. It's taken them longer than they thought to do the job and it seems there was more parts they needed to order (not sure how many parts a crossmember consists of).
Still can't fault them as they have kept me informed, seemed genuinely apologetic and given me a car to use.

Mine's been in to Farnells in Nelson this morning. Checks were completed but they were unsure why the recall had been suspended. I was told that the details were being sent back to LR HQ
Out of interest Sion, what sort of deal did you come to with having a new cross member and fixed towbar fitted? Surely it wasn't gratis?

Well for what it's worth, I have asked LR direct, what they mean by heavy and regular use.
They tell me that when they state 'heavy' it refers as much to the noseweight as the overal trailer weight. Therefore a caravan operating up to the Alko maximum of 100kg is well below the 150kg limit of the detachable.
Their interpretation of 'regular' is several times each week.
It may not have been written in green blood but the email they sent makes me feel a lot better about towing my caravan 20-30 times a year with the detachable.
