D4 newly arrived
"my" (not really mine as its owned by Leaseplan) D4 arrived on Friday, Scotia Grey with black interior basically standard HSE spec with addition of adaptive headlights and side steps (for the missus). My 2008 D3 went to its new owner on Friday who was upgrading from D1 (had from new) and he was hugely impressed by the way the D3 drove compared to his old car. I have to say that I feel the same D4 vs D3, its hard to believe that the two cars are actually related apart from the external look and obvious common items of trim. The refinement and performance uplift is remarkable and the level of kit sits up there with my old Merc AMG E-class - very comprehensive.
I went with LeaseplanPro (essentially a business lease for private individuals) with a two year 15kmile/annum deal inc servicing, tyres, road tax etc, all I do is pay the insurance and the monthly fee. Comparing costs with buying new over two years I reckon that the lease saves me 4 to 5k£, depreciation being the big hitter if purchased. I don't own the car but that's the only downside.
Anyway, main reason for the post was to highlight that the lease option is worth considering and how much of a step up the D4 feels compared to the D3.
Cheers keith

I had a look on their site and it seems like a lot of money for a car you don't get to keep

Not saying it neccessarily suits all folk as a way of Finance, but I've been with Yorkshire Bank Asset Finance for the last 5 cars and 15 years
Minimum 10% deposit (easily covered by trade in on old car), 4 year term with a ballon payment - car then yours
Ballon on my D4 in March this year was £12K - webuyanycar had it valued at £27K - not bothering trading in so have kept this D4
APR was 5.8%
No mileage limit and car is mine when ballon paid

I'm also interested in leasing again but have put myself off the idea as I do use it off road, add split charge, ham radios, roof rack etc... Does this make leasing a no-go? Are they very particular about scratches etc?D4 XS, gone, much loved, never forgotten

James - leasing companies we have used at work (I opted out of the car scheme and took the ££'s) are all quite picky about condition upon return (dents etc), rest of the stuff I assume you would remove before return anyway?
