SOLD Land rover Series 3 early County SW
Now Sold via eBay.
For sale is my Land Rover Series 3 County. I bought this as a non runner a couple of years back because it just looked so complete and tidy. It was only once I got it home that I realised it was one of the early County models. The reg XWK 734X seems to place it as being of the first batch used for the press launch. One of the same batch is pictured in " The land rover scrapbook" by Mike Gould, it's reg is XWK743X.
Huddersfield Land Rover have had XWK740X for sale recently. It can be seen in their sold cars section on their website. They also have a County on their stock list awaiting preparation.
My County has been on the road since I got the mot on 02/08/2013. Mileage then was 34037. The next Mot was last year on 25/07/2014 and the mileage was 34296, less than 300 miles in a year.
Current MOT expires August 1st 2015.
The vehicle had been sorned for many years by the previous owner as he didn't like driving it. He apparently just used if around his small holding. This leads me to think that the mileage could be correct?
I am selling it as we are building an extension and my family is expanding. The series 3 is just not getting used. Building work is far more expensive than I ever imagined!
The vehicle is tidy but not in great condition. Door tops are poor. Rear windows also need new tracks. Bulkhead is pretty good but has been patched and would need tidying up and painting.
I had planned to do these things as a sort of ongoing repair but, as with most of my projects, nothing has been done in the last two years. For the last mot I had to fit four brand new cooper tyres. It also had a wheel cylinder.
I would like £3950 for it. It needs to go so I am open to offers. I am happy to take more pictures of any part/ area in detail and email to anyone who might be interested. I live near Fishguard in West Wales so appreciate that it is a long way from most people.
I think it could be a lovely car for occasional use after a bit of tidying up.
I'm happy to answer any questions.
Thanks, James

Just found this email from Mark at The Land Rover Centre, Huddersfield.
Hi,
Thanks for your enquiry.
I can't tell you much, accept that we bought and sold it in January
1992
It came from Farnell Land Rovers in Bradford, and was sold to a
customer in Milford Haven.
Mileage then was 28,594
I believe all the "XWK" countys were press vehicles.
I hope this helps

If you view the pictures in your gallery there is an option to crop and rotate the photos so they show correctly. It will take 2 minutes and make the for sale advert look soooo much better.
And i for one would love to see some more photos Defender 90 CSW MY06

Firstly, thank you Martin for rotating the pictures
I have taken a few more pics and will get them loaded later on once I've done my evening chores.
The Land Rover is tatty in places but great in others. The door bottoms are pretty good but the trim on the inside could do with tidying or replacement. I know that some people would just bin and replace some of the bits but I think that would be a pity if it can be saved. Seats front and back are really good. All there and in good nick really. Headlining is complete but could do with a clean.
Back door trim has had a wiper fitted at some point. Just a hole there now.
Front bonnet looks like it had a spare on at one time. It has been poorly filled and sprayed. It looks like the bonnet, wing tops and bulkhead have been sprayed over quickly - the rubbers around the vents have brown paint on them, also bonnet hinges. These are all things that make it look tatty but could be tidied quite nicely with some new rubbers and a bit of paint/ time / expertise.
Chassis is good. New crossmember has been fitted at some point. Front dumb irons have been plated.
Advisories on the last mot are coolant leak, offside front floor corroded and near side front bulkhead corroded.
I will get some more pics and details on later, have to make supper now. Regards James
