disappointed
I have seen quite a few people on the forum with prices around £250-350 from A plan.
I have just been quoted £485
I have 9 yrs no claims, no points, mid 40s.
I was hoping for a better price than that, to be honest its only £15 cheaper than my current insurers (RAC) and the excess on A plan is £250 whereas RAC is £200.
Any comparisons would be interesting.
I have D3 HSE 56 plate, insured value £12500, 15000 miles per year.2014 D4 HSE Facelift Corris Grey

That seems expensive..
I used a comparison site and my insurance is now by a well known supermarket giant.
I've a TR20 postcode I've just turned 40, 7 years no clams and my 55 plate SE listed with privacy glass was recently insured fully comp for a reasonable £157
I haven't limited the milage although I don't do that much and have access to 3 other vehicles.
Maybe it's your postcode pushing it up? Not a lot happens around here so quite a safe insurance area.Narpy Grill, tinted windows, Smooth leather wheel (TLO Group buy), ACM fitted (thanks TLO), Rear door loom and Row 2 & 3 audio switch upgrade, RRS 20" wheel change, 285 Cooper LTZ's Sat Nav Mod (until I get a Faultmate upgrade), Front & Rear lamp guards. 4x4 screen now switched on - Woody32, Follow me home reverse lights - woody32, Auto release EPB - Woody32. Been driving a classic car for 4 years and that means I had zero no claims
06 Metropolis 13k value ME15 postcode 371 pounds, cant argue with that
The price difference in the policy with the 9 yrs no claims I had was only 100 quid cheaper, so not the end of the world.

Admiral multi car for me too.
City living and sub 40s (just)
Insured both cars with admiral for less than A plan quoted for the Jeep alone.
They were very nice on the phone though.

Admiral were slightly cheaper for me but it was a hassle getting factory added extras covered so I went with A-plan £365 including legal cover, business use, 15 yrs no claims, £300 excess and 18k miles a year. I had to ask for letter to confirm factory options were covered and in fairness that turned up a day later.

UPDATE
I just got quoted £340 by admiral, for identical cover, and I went meticulously through it with the guy on the phone to make sure I was getting every detail correct and comparing apples for apples.
I further managed to get that down to £310 by agreeing to re-insure SWMBOs A class with them for the next 12 months, for £205 (so as per members above multi car policy).
So basically I got both cars insured for pretty much the price that A plan were quoting me just for the Disco3.

£524 with A-Plan this year, 43, safe postcode and full Protected no claims. lean license with business class driving.
I phoned NFU and they wanted £850 which I politely refused. RAC on line quoted £350 but I don't for one second believe they are comparable prices.
I would love to know why its so expensive compared to others on here, the mods I've made are all cosmetic...
I was planning to drop Steve a line to enquire....Mark
Remember its only an obsession....

Which office did you use? The Thatcham office now deal with the forum enquiries, Steve has moved on from the Bletchley office.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

I used the Thatcham office Martin, I read your advice on that before calling them. Spoke to Zoe.
I then got the Admiral quote online from Compare the Meerkat, and called them up to go through it in detail.

That's the Bletchley office, who have handed new enquiries over to Thatcham.
As an aside, Bletchley will still support existing customers, but you are free to "move" to being dealt with by Thatcham at renewal if you wish 06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti

I have heard that certain insurers pull various tricks to get themselves low down on the comparison sites - such is the volume of insurance now taken out through them, and "most" people just want the cheapest.
Such as not covered factory fitted options, or winter tyres, or horrendous extras premium for modifications. Or charging frightening admin charges should you need to make an alteration.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
