Painted/blanked out the lenses on the fog lights. The Norwegian MOT says they need to work if they're not blanked, so a couple of coats of the only grey paint I had lying around sorted that out.

Replaced the rear ARB drop links. Three out of four nuts came right off, but the last one required some persuasion from the angle grinder

Built and fitted an antenna bracket so I have some way of storing it when entering car parks that doesn’t involve bringing almost 2m of wet spring steel into the car screw thread on a horizontal bracket so it can be unscrewed and stored horizontally:)

Fitted an elbow for the battery vent.
Yes I know it’s only a little job when you consider the number I have found that are missing it must be extremely difficult A visitor from the dark side, my other vehicle is an MG5 EV

Replaced L/H rear suspension height sensor, and re calibrated all round….Had been getting a fault message, and fault code for some time.( Started on a trip to Scotland last summer, but then stopped occurring for a few months after ). Finally looked into it with the IID tool, and could see its erratic operation on live data graph. Very useful bit of kit. D3 owned from new, P017 brake recall, BAS FBHIC, new FBH, LR013487 oil pump, new water pump. RRS front lower suspension arms. New suspension compressor/ relay. New Denso alternator. CuNifer rear brake pipes. New GKN rear propshaft. New HPFP belt & tensioner. New A/C Condenser.NO WARRANTY for many many years.

Took 2 garden armchairs and a small glass-topped table to the tip. Had to make a 2nd run to take the sofa, but what a great practical vehicle the D4 is proving to be.
I’m new to Discovery ownership, and have only had my 2009 D4 XS for a few weeks, but so far SWMBO & I are quite pleased with my purchase. I’m sure I’ll be reaching to the deepest parts of my pocket before long, but hey- ho, we only live once.
Luxurious, comfortable, practical, quiet and handsome. I’m beginning to think the D4 may be the finest vehicle JLR have produced, notwithstanding its complexity. But at my advanced age, I don’t want to be working on vehicles so I’ve got a very good LR Specialist who hopefully will keep it running well for me.
So nothing to dislike.

Sold it.
After nine mostly trouble-free years it was time to say farewell to the Blue Beast. The cost of repairs to get it through this years’ MOT was simply not viable, but some of it al least may live on courtesy of another forum member.
The search for its replacement continues.

Sidesteps finally bit the dust literally.
Been putting off removing them didn’t know how seized the bolts would be and what I would find under the sill trim
Had to cut the step plates off but surprisingly all the other bolts came out cleanly and apart from a bit of surface rust all good underneath
Replaced with sliders

Speed sensor replacement
Got the bongs and lights so on with the code reader.
Right hand side speed sensor goosed. So set out to replace it. What a nightmare. Rust and even more rust.
3 “ grinder took care of the rusted screw underside but the sensor was well and truly stuck in position. Much WD 40 and swear words eventually drilled out the centre and extracted the remains with long nose pliers.
All back together and no bongs or lights until the next time. Suppose you can’t expected anything to be easy on a 16 year old D3! Shocked by the accumulation of leaves, muck and general debris when I got the internal cover off. Cleaned out but must do the near side soon. Another pleasure to look forward to.Once you have defeated the idiots any job is half done. Pity there are so many idiots to defeat.

Had to remove our sidesteps too. Barely looked at them and they collapsed into this mess:
Had to take a grinder to the brackets to chop them off, then the bolts came out ok. Even managed to get the plastic sill covers off and on without breaking/losing any clips.
Start shopping for new sliders next week...Cheers,
