They probably think that you'll most likely be going faster if you've got a V8 Wink

The rears I'm sure used to be exactly the same on both the petrol and diesel versions. Maybe they've just ,made them bigger for the DV8 and the SCV8petrol due to the power..

I've got the front discs here now, but have yet to look at putting them on as I've been busy and when I haven't been busy such as today, it's raining. Sad

Anyway, a bit late I know, but I was just looking at the workshop manual and it says that the calipers are different as well, so I'm a bit worried that they won't fit. Well will hopefully find out soon enough anyway, but just thought I'd warn anyone else thinking of buying them. Maybe whoever else that's done it already had the different calipers for some reason... I wonder how much do the calipers cost if they are different?

Confirmed, there's no way the bigger discs will fit a TDV6. Certainly not mine anyway. If I had been sensible and checked first, I'd have seen that there is only a few mm clearance between the standard disc and the caliper.

Does anyone know if the caliper itself is different on the V8, or just the anchor plate that it mounts to? Just trying to salvage something from this little mess, as if only the anchor plate is different, I could replace that as well, and then be able to use the bigger discs.

OK, been in at the dealers, and the caliper holder is the bit that's different - the calipers themselves are the same. The part is listed at about €40. There is some confusion as to whether that's for one, or a pair, so they've ordered one to see what comes. Worse case scenario, I'll have them on Thursday, and then I should be able to fit the bigger discs. Smile

I thought the space looked a bit fishy when we were discussing them at the peaks..

Still all is not lost if its only the caliper holders that need changing ...let hope the price is for 2 Thumbs Up

Well I've learned my lesson and will research these things properly in future - you can't believe everything you read here! Laughing I've got the discs now, and I couldn't see me being able to sell them, and even if I have to spend €80 for the caliper holders, it's less than getting the proper tdv6 discs - damage limitation at this stage! Cant resist jumping in on Disc diameter :)

Besides the increased cooling surface provided by the larger disc (rotor to me LOL) the greater distance the caliper is the great the leverage it applies to stopping the rotation of the disc - sort of like a longer handle on a wrench.

just my two "geek" cents

Terry

btw - a "boot" is something I slip on my foot and a rubber... well this is a family site LOL
