Finally got this YouTube malarchie working.
North Cape wind from in the car
And from outside the car
These two had been either side of the road and decided to play with me.
And this one had me following it for ages before I started filming

Great post, Derek. Welcome home
Question is, did you find yourself out there ?? A happy childhood ... is the worst possible preparation for life.

Warmer and much better chance of better weather. Also it's more in season so if you want to See any touristy thing then chances are they are open. Plus I passed many small campsites that looked like they had not started up for the summer.
Re wild camping, away from the main E4 and the busier south of Sweden the world's your box of cookies. I found some great spots, though mostly slept in the car as the tent would have ended up in Russia with that gale. Just be patient and kiss a few frogs before you find your princess. Good spots can be difficult to spot at 60mph with a neck that can't turn fully but you develop a knack. Fishing holes, little bays off lay-bys, trails down to a clearing that you caught a glimpse of, etc, etc, etc. A few places I could have put up the tent but was being lazy though.

I enjoyed the trip with you - will possibly never have the opportunity do it, but it was a good alternative of our cross-country trips down here in Africa de Sud.
Cheers

At least up there there is nothing that can kill then eat you, though on last night in the tent it sounded like a moose trotting through the place. Now that is a big critter and wasn't for getting out of my sleeping bags to investigate.

That is exactly one of my worries Have you encounter any animals that would be dangerous while wild camping at night? like bears!
My missus would put holt to trip like this after first night, knowing we might camp close to bears nest.

Nothing up there to worry about, they'd run from you. Only reindeer & moose, bear so rear even locals in wilderness areas don't see them.

I think you'll find most people killed on trips like these are killed by other people, not the wildlife!DS3 TDV6 HSE - Silver with Alpaca (old one) Gone

Don't think so in Scandinavia, more Poland & W Russia etc. I did see some Arctic Foxes, well they were foxes and in the Arctic.

Met a family in Stockholm a couple of weeks ago (best mates pen pal from years ago) - they have a summer house north of the Artic Circle - wolf sightings not uncommon as well as occasional bear
Del - I am so envious - looks like an awesome trip

Just googled wolves in Sweden, apparently there are about 500 - so, given size of country maybe 'not uncommon' is Swedish for 'once in a blue moon'
