As already said, with so little mark-up there is little left to trim. Getting an IID BT at pretty much trade price is remarkable.
It is a lot less than I paid for my IID BT!

No disrespect to you mikey, you only want what is best for forum members and I thank you for that, this is just my opinion on this and I still would like to own one but for a 10k group buy you would think a bigger saving would be had
^ what he said. I'm still in though, its just that it's not unreasonable to wish / hope / think that a £10k group buy would offer a better discount.
Quick sums suggest that Island 4x4 have a 10% ish markup on the retail price of the IID BT. With the price quoted for a group buy, they are down to ~3%
They really can't go any cheaper.
If you did want to go cheaper, you could go for the non-BT model My D3 Build Thread

A couple of questions.
Am I right in saying that this locks to the VIN for changes to CCF and vehicle configuration, but will allow you to read and clear all codes on D3's and D4's?
How future proof is this, when the D5 comes out next year will we need anothe rcomplete new unit or will this be able to be updated and chnaged over to the D5?
What is the cost to unlock it and move it to a new vehicle when we changes vehicles?MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

MY11 D4 HSE Stornaway Grey Sold and gone

Will read faults etc on all supported models.
£25 to relicense.
£60 to add another vehicle
IID guys will have to answer the D5 questions. They are very good and developing things all the time. I would expect them to bring that on board. I suppose it depends what they change and how hard they make it...

Quick question from me, does it only work with apple and android? Ie can it be plugged into a windows laptop or utilised with a windows phone.
The mobile Apps are only available for iOS and Android devices. We do offer a PC based interface via USB cable which is rarely used except in emergency cases (bad cruise control buttons, instrument pack screen) and 99% of the time it’s on non Bluetooth units since a mobile App cannot be used. The PC based interface offers no advantage over the integrated interface (cruise control buttons, instrument cluster screen) except for a three line display instead of one for the D3.

Correct:
Standard diagnostic functions (free of charge, all supported vehicles for the IIDTool BT, D3, D4 etc…)
• Faults read / clear (All ECU’s)
• Live values
• Control outputs
• Service / test functions (service interval reset (oil service), electronic parking brake functions etc)
Enhanced diagnostic functions (VIN locked, tool comes with one license, additional license at around 60 GBP, part number DA6407):
• Key programming
• ECU Flash
• Component and system calibration (including suspension height adjustments, when air suspension is fitted to the vehicle)
• Car Configuration File editing capability (for example, activate the reverse screen after retrofitting the rear camera)
• Advanced functions including backup / restore, save profiles – vehicle system settings and configurations are read and stored as a backup file for a restore function, various changes to systems (e.g. suspension height) can be stored and changed quickly

Unless there is a big change in architecture which we highly doubt, it will work on a D5. It will on a Disco Sport and all later platform (L405, 494...) which would be very similar electrically to the D5… Manufacturer tend to share electrical components to save on costs so its pretty safe to say it will do just fine.
If for whatever reason they change something hardware related, we will offer a migration path,

Here are the typical scenarios:
• Adding a second vehicle license (enhanced functions) costs 60 GBP ish depending on the dealer
• Used unit is sold, buyer pays 25 GBP
• You sell your D4 and buy a D5, transfer to the D5 is free of charge and the tool no longer works on the D4.

I have to clarify something, (forgive my ignorance, I have not paid much attention until now ), my D3 is a base 7 seater (it has air susp), it didn't have Cruise Control until I retrofitted it, and it only has the r/ h instrument cluster screen active, the l/h one shows zilch. Is this going to prevent me doing certain things with the BT IID TOOL ? ( I may be wrong but I vaguely remember reading that you had to use the CC buttons and a screen to set it up initially ).... I had intended to use it with a 4th gen IPad mainly. Thanks in advance for any info on this, and Many Thanks to Disco_Mikey for organising the GB.

What do you mean by left hand and right hand instrument cluster?
The tool works at its best with the iPad , the display on your dash can be used with cc buttons instead of the iPad ... But to use it at its best you can ignore the dash display and cc buttons as the best functionality comes with use of the iPad, you can also register it from the iPad

Ahh, what I mean is the screen in the centre (not left ) shows messages, ext temp, trip, range, fuel consumption etc, but no 4x4 info or anything else, in other words quite limited information, the r/h screen shows the mileage etc. I'm unsure whether my spec instrument cluster will display the necessary information for when the CC buttons are to be used with the IID tool. As I said above, I'm sure there was something in the set up procedure that involved using CC BUTTONS / SCREEN, even though they would not normally be used once everything had been set up. If there is some reason why it can't be set up, there is no point in me buying one. That is what I need to find out.

I see, when I got my first IID BT, I did need the screen you mentioned to register the device as the android app I used at the time was nothing more than a replication of the cruise control buttons.
The android app and apple app have developed since quite considerably, when I changed to the IID Pro I'm sure I did all the registering on the iPad without the need for the little info screen on the dash. Don't quote me on that as I can't remember 100% , but I'm sure Pat or someone else will either confirm this or let you know otherwise

The fact you have that screen means you have the high-line instrument cluster the same as most others.
