Tools: New Impact Wrench
Bought a new impact wrench a couple of weeks ago and have been putting it through its paces.
Went for the new Makita DTW281Z 18v LXT Brushless, as brushless technology seems the way to go and I already have some 18v Makita stuff:

The thing that immediately impresses is how small it is - increasingly important where access matters. I use a tiny Makita 10.8v 3/8th impact routinely but it suddenly does not look quite so small when measured against its big brother:

So far I have used it on brakes, suspension, wheels and numerous smaller jobs. The quoted power is genuine, the trigger is good and the 3 torque settings are very handy.

Went for the 2.0Ah batteries as they are the equivalent of a 4.0Ah on a non-brushless and reduces weight, size and charging time (less than 25 mins).
So far I am utterly impressed with this tool.

Yep I've got one of those as well. Really nice for getting into tight spaces, and has amazing torque. Carry mine when I go off road for changing wheels. Great little tool.

Thanks for the info I am looking to buy an impact wrench and was toying between Makita as I have some 240v stuff that has never let me down, Milwaukee same really and Ryobi one plus as I have a lot of it and again though at the cheaper end of things has never let me down and I use it every day and for many many years now, but they only do a lighter torque 1/2 inch wrench.

Can I ask what sockets you use with this please robbie.
Is that a standard socket or an impact socket?

As said above I too have a lot of ryobi kit, all 18v Lithium batteries. I have looked at the impact wrench that ryobi do but can not seem to find anywhere that sells it for a decent price?? Does anyone have a link of a good source?
I like the look of the sockets too so will have to get some ordered

Robbie have a look at the milwaukee 3/8 impact, it looks almost the same body/led light etc, I can be reasonably sure as was cleaning it not an hour ago.
It is also tiny, I love it for access etc.

I'm using a Sealey 22mm alloy wheel impact socket - about a tenner when bought separately but kits are available. For the D3 a 23mm sometimes comes in handy too.
