Rasta wheel carrier/ BRS REWC |
|
Hi Baben, Heine,
Ja, the group thing is not working for the Rasta carrier. Sadness begets me as well.
Spoke to Karl about the Mantec non winch plate which I wanted to order ex UK, but was told to speak to BRS. Karl would have ordered, but did not get any, to date.
Not ordered the 17 inch rims or Coopers yet. So 6th wheel goes on the roof. Maybe should get the Coopers ATR in 18 inch instead and run them only. Have had 8+ punctures and lost 4 OE S$#@%t ... mostly on gravel.
Any action reports on the BRS REWC?

IEF Engineering, Joburg - Spare Wheel Carrier for D3 |
|
Howzit guys!
Am prepping up an order for kit from Front Runner for a mate with D2 and my D3 to get shipped out to me in the Sultanate of Oman, Middle East. They suugested the spare wheel carrier from IEF Engineering was good and fits to the D3'standard bumper. It looks very similar to the product you have been discussing on this thread.
Their web address is www.iefeng.co.za and their postal address is PO Box 751099, Gardenview, 2047, Johannesburg, South Africa.
Any of you seen/ used their D3 product? I'd like a 'qualified' opinion befre taking the plunge if possible.
Would be really grateful for any help. Baben's views already sought about some of the racks and rack mounted gear but any others views always appreciated.

AFAIK the D3 carrier is still vapourware . Wayne from FR contacted Baben about having one in stock about 2 wweks ago and to date it has not materialised. If you are getting one then it is probably the first to be produced .

Heine,
So which model of carrier did you get? Who or what is BRS? Sorry guys, am no familair with your SA suppliers of gear but I have to import from somewhere!
Take it the vapour trail is from IEF, but why would Front Runner recommend I go look at their carrier if its not available?

BRS is a fitment place specialising in Land Rover.
http://www.brsoffroad.co.za/ (bit out of date)
Karl and FR have both been busy bringing a D3 carrier to market . FR claim to have one but to date it has not materialised. Karl does now have in stock and Baben is getting his next week (I think) and mine is being done the week after.
As to why FR made their claim - dunno maybe they were trying to beat Karl for our business .

Heine, Thanks buddy. When you or Baben have got yours fitted, could you let me know what you think of the product, ease of fit etc. I may go the same route as both of you. Rasta's product certainly looks the part. Their manufacturing seems to be based in Israel, so it might be less costly for me to try to order direct from them and ship from Israel - if customs here don't have a problem!

OK, so the blue D3 has been dropped off at BRS for fitment. I had a close look at the wheel carrier unit, and it looks pretty solid. It bolts to the chassis, not just to the bumper. One neat aspect is that you can remove the carrier, and you will only have a hole in the plastic bumper (and the latch assembly) - there is no shaft sticking out of the bumper.
I will post lots of pics once the vehicle is done. Will only be able to post next Friday though, due to work.....
Hold thumbs!
