Brake pad warning question
My car is telling me it needs new pads which I'd believe except the warning came on when I was doing 70mph cruising on the motorway. Tried disconnecting/reconnecting the battery and the warning went away for a about 5 miles then it came on, against when cruising.
I would have thought the warning would come on when I braked as the wires in the pads make contact with the disc? Also, it's got main dealer history so I would think the dealer would have reported this on the last service, especially as I've only done about 3k miles since I bought the car from them?
Is it telling me porkies or should I just book it in and accept they need changing?

have a look at the pads and see how much is left ??
that's the easiest way of checking Duncan

The light is designed to come on when the telltale wire is worn through, breaking the circuit.
Check your brakes.

Get it checked you will probably still have a few thousand miles on them but as soon as the sensor makes contact the light comes on no matter what the situation. Cruising or if you have just started the car Discovery 3 se gone

Ok, thanks, that makes sense.
Next question - I used to get my old D3 serviced by my local independent. Can I use them or do I have to take it to my local main dealer? The car has 2 years manufacturer's warranty remaining on it.

I find Mintex are fine for braking but wear quickly and produce a lot of dust in the process.
I've had very good performance/price from Pagid and Ferodo.Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto
