Sounds easy - I like the idea of not having to cut the sill covers!

What about their effectiveness as side steps? They can take a reasonable load upwards (ie when the car weight is on them), can they take a reasonable load downwards? And are the anchor points on the chassis designed to take the load of a person standing on a slider? Do the sliders user the same anchor points as the side steps?

They are strong enough to use as steps. Upwards? Not sure what you mean. They will protect the sills from most damage, but as with all brands of sliders, they are not indestructible. Could you jack up on the bars if you had to? I don't know, no brand of sliders are warranted for this.

And are the anchor points on the chassis designed to take the load of a person standing on a slider?

Yes. I use mine all the time as a step.

Do the sliders user the same anchor points as the side steps?

I haven't had side steps, so I don't know how those are anchored, but the bolt holes are in the chassis already for the sliders. They are the same ones used to fit OEM and Prospeeds.

Many thanks for the reply.

By upwards, I mean that the sliders can support the weight of the car, or at least part of it. The force through the slider is therefore upwards. When you stand on the slider, the force is downwards.

Is that right? I thought Prospeed were as they give a jack point on the sliders....

Or am I wrong?

Compressor guard - yes.

There are no jacking points on the sliders that I am aware of.

Rock / tree sliders to give away

Dear all,

I hope I'm not breaking any rules here - but I have two of the Mk2 sliders discussed here that have been leaning against my garage wall for 4 years that I would love to give away to anyone who can come down the soonest to Twickenham to get them. They have some Icelandic dust on them but are in decent nick - some stone chips here and there I guess. Cant find the bolts for them right this minute though.

It seems I can't post in the FS section as I haven't posted enough on the forum - but I don't want to sell them - freecycling is the order of the day.
