Tree sliders expression of intrest MK2
As per http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic134568.html the tree sliders are being moded to make them more of what we want. Madrilleno has done a lot of work and tested them on his car with the final MK3 version being produced as we speak for him to do a final visit and fit soon as per the post.
Martin has agreed the group buy and we have come up with a price of £190 that is £180 for the sliders and £10 towards the forum.
This post is just to register interest and I not confirmation of buying them.MY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

I‘m now ‘in‘ for these, especially if they stick out enough to protect the body panels Iggy/Ieuan

Version 3 will stick out by 10mm more, and extend a further 50mm fore and aft than the Mk2.There are two rules for success,
1. Never tell everything you know.

Sorry, don't have mud flaps, so I can't say for definite. I would think that fronts would since the sliders don't reach all the way to the rear of the front wheel arch. Rears obviously unaffected. There are two rules for success,

Sticking out further and being longer will challenge the thinner metal more than with the original design - unless this offer includes a heavier gauge of steel?
I guess everything is a compromise but I fear this may be one too many if the bars suddenly have to take the weight of the vehicle. Of course, I may be wrong but there is no track record with these bars just yet.

Robbie, I think it's horses for courses.
Would I use these in Moab, or some other extreme off-road situation, no. Will I use them for fairly straightforward green-lanes, yes.
4mm wall thickness tube will, IMHO, be adequate to protect from light to moderate damage. The 'frame' section will also protect from the same type damage from rocks. etc below.
As it stands at the moment, I have shiny hairdresser side tubes. These have protected my D3 from light damage whenever I have gone green-laning. That will suffice for me, I can't afford to risk heavy damage. There are two rules for success,
