Caltex Vortex Premium Diesel |
|
Hi Folks,
I just found out that Caltex is selling "Vortex Diesel" - which is meant to include injector cleaners and anti-foaming agents.
I filled up from about a quarter of a tank - and I am not sure if it is my imagination or not, but the light throttle injector noise seems to have gone after about 50km!
They don't mention on their web site http://www.caltex.com.au/products_oil_detail.asp?id=278 that the cetane rating is - so I guess it is the same as ULSD.
Anyhow, a few tank fulls should show if there is any difference.
Cheers,
Rob
PS. I have no affiliation with Caltex!

G'day Jonesy,
I think Mobil, & I know Shell have had low foam diesel for quiet a while now. Don't know what Mobil call theirs (I call it expensive) but Shell call theirs Formula.
They generally are delivered, from the pump to your vehicle via a larger diameter hose and spout.
Cheers.
PS I have no connexion with Mobil or Caltex. Used to work for Shell at their Geelong refinery. Did you think I would leave you crying,

I have no problem with the standard stuff.
I avoid the majors as they charge 8-10 cents a litre more than my local independent.
I would not want to pay them even more.
I add cleaner occasionally but same heaps.
at least $600 so far. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€

I use the standard stuff from Mobil in D3, But in my old HJ75 Tojo I give it a dose of injector cleaner every now and again and it works wonders, also it goes much better on winter grade diesel, I guess it likes all that kero.

Half way through the second tank of this stuff and while it is a bit quieter, and it did not foam up and spit while filling, I seem to think the fuel economy is actually worse! I had better go the "long way home" tonight - hit some highways and see if there is any difference. So far, I am underwhelmed!
