Hi all.
I'll thought I'd start a thread on my new D4 and installs I'm hoping to fit.
I have on order a MY16 Discovery 4 HSE Lux, hopefully built for mid-November.
Spec:
Metallic - Firenze Red
Black Pack
Windsor Leather - Ebony
Cooler Box
Homelink
In-Control Apps
Vision Assist Pack
5 Year Service Plan
Planned Installs:
Brodit Install
Blackvue Install (DR650GW-2CH)
Side Steps (all black)
4G Wireless Hot Spot
I'm not sure if I need to install the following though. Does anyone know if LR have beefed up the security on the MY16?
Spare Wheel Protector
OBD Port Protection / Key Programming etc.
So one of the first jobs will be to install the wiring for the accessories. As I'd like to utilise the Parking Mode on the Blackvue, I need to install some kind of Battery Monitor/UPS. What are people's feelings on devices like the Cellink Battery B, T Power Plus or even the Power Magic Pro. I suppose what I'm after is protecting the Main battery from discharge.
I've performed these kind of installs in Mercedes Cars which aren't too difficult if you know where to run the wires and how the interior comes apart . I have Mercedes DAS, WIS, EPC etc (Mercedes Diags and Manuals) which helps with taking things apart and resetting errors on the controllers so any help with that would be much appreciated. Also, I'll try to write up the procedures for any future installs by members.
Cheers.

I am curious about the 4G wifi hotspot. What are you putting in here ? I have sometimes enabled the hotspot on my i-phone for the kids when stuck in traffic but they would love a more robust solution Also Gone : MY14 D4 SDV6 HSE : Barolo Black + Almond
Sadly Gone : MY08 D3 TDV6 HSE : Stornoway + Alpaca + Privacy + BAS Remap

Spare Wheel Protector
On a MY2016 an RLD spare wheel protector wont fit as the spare is mounted 'upside down' to make room for the adblue tank, I believe there is also a security plate fitted but don't know how secure they are
Have you seen the Incontrol apps in action? If not I would try and find a car with them fitted as IMHO they are a waste of money (at least the ones on a MY2015) Cheers Ian

At this moment in time, incontrol is a waste of time and money. I refused it on the DS an the incontrol remote is pants. I don't have it on my one and don't miss it.
16MY cars have a protector over the spare, I think it's more protection rather than security but I suppose it may put some little barstwerds off. 23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

I have sometimes enabled the hotspot on my i-phone for the kids when stuck in traffic but they would love a more robust solution Either an old phone with hotspot or a dedicated hotspot. Reason I cant use my phone is Blackvue are introducing a "cloud" mode which allows the monitoring of the cameras remotely so was going to use it for that as well as general internet access in the car.

However, this option cannot be retrofitted so I'm taking a bit of a punt. It just opens up some options in regards with Sat Nav. I may find streaming the Sygic App with Safety Cams a better method. Ultimately I'd like to Mirror the whole screen with Incontrol and loose the brodit. Suppose I'll have to write that app myself!

Could you get Sygic on the incontrol and have it as a default SatNav?
the LR satnav not really the most up to date I find and I miss the local speed limits (as seen in BMWs for example)

So when I get into my car it fires up Waze etc. automatically. Can't see why it can't fire up InControl etc.

Had a bit of bad news on delivery. I am desperate to get it before Christmas (that was one of the conditions for the order) but I may be pushed back.
So typically how long does it take from order to delivery?

The phone has to be plugged into the socket in the upper glove box to be able to use Incontrol, for some reason Land Rover decided against a bluetooth connection for it Cheers Ian

It all depends on whether the dealer has any build slots available to them, if they are a busy dealer the time from order to delivery will be longer. If say you found a dealer with a build slot at the start of October, you would have the car before the end of October so there is no standard time from order to delivery Cheers Ian

I placed an order for my HSE in late August and was given a possible late October build November delivery. When the order was placed with the factory i was given a build date of 4th December. Tried to amend the order yesterday and was told by Dealer that LR have locked all 16MY Discovery orders and no changes can be made to them.

They originally had a slot booked a few months a go (possibly for a demo car) which they used for me but for whatever reason this has fallen through. They are trying to get another slot somehow but I just wondered the likelyhood if they can't, would it be built for mid December?
Looks unlikely

Bluetooth should still pair when plugged in to the USB?
