Friends from the land of the Finns, tell me that their Government stipulates that wood must go thru a cycle of practical use = furniture; etc before it can be consumed in their super efficient 2 tonne, Soap Stone, short burnings, high temp, stoves.

Didn't look like that to me in Finland last summer. More dumpy bags of freshly cut logs sitting on pallets ready for delivery than you can shake a stick at. Excuse the pun! Certainly was like that in the frozen north, driving up the whole length of the country this summer so will have a butchers again.
PS Re 2nd use, deffo up for a bit of that.

Thanks for that info - if I could get Finn-Persons to belly larf, I'd do some leg pulling.
That is SOME adventure you're planning, fly-drive, or your own LRD all the way?

PS
Mind you, having just checked where you're based, you're 1/2 way there already - well compared with we in Yorkie-shire.

Own adventure, or Road Trip 2016 with D3 doing 6,200 miles in shade under three weeks. UK to Berlin, couple of days looking a WW2 sights from the end of that event, Poland (couple of days seeing WW2 sites there), Lithuania, Latvia & Estonia to Talinn then boat to Helsinki. Up the E side of Finland (see what i can see te Soviet invasion of Finland where they got their handed to them on a platter), up to Lake Inari then to the top NE corner of Norway, further E than Istanbul!! Then bit of bimbling around the Arctic Ocean then 2 days back to Helsinki then return home via Baltics, Poland & Germany.
And if the D3 doesn't want to do it I have a Jazz that's just gagging to do the gig.
PS And then straight up to Heelands, making Yorkshire seem positively down souff.
