Blanking EGRs (Properly?)

Morning. I've owned my 57 Disco for about a month and the forum has provided invaluable in helping me through all the different little snags on the car, but here's a short story followed by a question:

A couple of days after getting the car I had an EGR problem. I got straight on the phone to the dealer and after a couple of trips back and forth he settled on the cheapest way out which was to pay for the EGRs to be blanked and the software updated.

That got the car pretty much back to good, but the chap who did the work has left the pipes in place and I can see no evidence that anything has been done the butterfly valves.

My question is, now that my software update has been done, am I safe to buy a blanking kit and completely remove the pipework without throwing up any errors? Obviously that assumes that the guy who did the EGR delete did it properly, of course.

Any guidance would be gratefully received.

Basically, yes, but you don't have to remove the pipework - basic shims will do the trick. Check that the intake butterfly is removed too. Thumbs Up

Magic. Just the answer I was hoping for. My main thought is that he's done half the job. I can see evidence of the EGR blanking but nothing in the butterfly area, so I'm following up for peace of mind.

Good to know I can get my hands dirty with minimal risk.

Thanks for the swift response.
