Almost a discovery 4 landmark owner

Popped into dealer on Sunday to look at used Discovery's with a view took at alternatives to my 3 year old FL2 that has been absolutely superb but wished I'd bought and auto with Zenons looked at the sport - not for me - ended up putting a deposit on a Landmark in Waitomo grey - picking it up on Friday all bring well.

Collected My Landmark yesterday

Picked up my Landmark yesterday morning after sadly trading in "Fred"my HSE Freelander - which had been superb in every way and totally reliable - but a visit to a local dealer to look at and convince myself I didn't like the sport replacement - led to the purchase of a pre reg Landmark. Filled up the tank Rolling Eyes and thought this wasn't to bad a nearly quarter full on collection.
First impressions very good drove in typical city traffic and some country lanes for thirty miles auto great smooth.
For such a big car it's feels quick.
Anyway back home loaded up with daughter dog wife and luggage for a weekend in Devon (loads of room) - must be mad on a bank holiday weekend but off we went only to meet in inevitable traffic jam near Bristol after three hours in and detouring round it - back on the motorway at Taunton eventually got down to Exmouth.
Filled the car back up - thinking I wonder what the actual mpg would be, car showing 31 mpg - maybe should have kept Fred! but pleasantly surprised with 31.3 mpg calculated on the tank to tank fill.
So far - Fantastic on the motorway - great in traffic - very comfortable and must say although a bit thirsty it's better than I expected especially after reading reports of fuel consumption and hopefully it will get better as it runs in
Overall delighted with the new car
Some photos to follow

30+ mpg on a 2.7 tonne 3.0 V6 4x4 is quite acceptable I feel!

Glad you like it, I never get over 30mpg, my average according to the display is around 28.8 and I thought that was ok ('ish)

Having previously owned 2 manual FL2's (never thought of calling them "Fred", what a great name "Fred the Freelander"! Thumbs Up ) and an auto FL2, there's actually very, very little difference in the fuel consumption between an FL2 auto and a D4! A genuine 31.3mpg from the D4 isn't bad; it's slightly better than the FL2 auto was giving me.

Oddly enough, it was a trip into a dealer to show my wife and daughter a new Disco Sport that wound up with us buying the D4; we are definitely not alone in this!

Hope you're enjoying your weekend down here, even if you did only ever get as far as Devon and missed the best bit! Laughing

Same here. I got 33.84mpg average from my auto freelander over 18 months (12,000 miles) measured. After 800 miles with the d4 I am currently getting c.29mpg measured. Trip computer on d4 seems to be about 8% - 10% optimistic whereas the freelander was almost spot on. Once I've done a few more miles I'll correct it with the IID Thumbs Up

Maybe the mpg improvements in MY2016 are the difference if the software is setup the same?

@Peakwayfarer - which dealer did you buy it from ? I keep getting the urge to swap the X5 for a last proper Disco and SWMBO isn't averse to the idea. The X5 has some really useful tech, including a much needed speed limiter (we both have lead feet) and is good for 35+ mpg but depreciation is a killer.

A quandary I don't need !

Just in case you weren't aware, the current D4 has a speed limiter too Thumbs Up
