And having forgotten that I have Luxury Cover with WD, I only have to pay £50 of the £999 for the lower arms replacement bill. Positively rolling in it for a LR owner!!!! Give BA Transmissions at Keighly a ring, they fitted a reconditioned torque converter and changed the oil for around £300 about 8 months ago and it has been fine since.
I have no connection with the company other than as a satisfied customer

Supply only of a tc from bristol transmissions is more than that. I would question what they do and what oil they use.Mark.

All I can say is they're a two man outfit who seem to have a vast experience of auto transmissions, the car going on the ramp after mine was a very smart classic Rolls Royce. As an engineer I was interested in how the torque converter would be reconditioned and they took the time to show me one cut open and I was amazed at how little needs to be replaced when reconditioning but how many complex castings there are in there, it certainly made the price difference between new and reconditioned self evident.
I specifically asked about the oil and although they were understandably cagey about where it came from they reassured me it was a ZF speciation oil that they purchased in 205 litre drums from Germany and they give a 12 months guarantee.

Latest from the dealer is that I'm looking at replacement gearbox. They've found a fault, no codes reported and nothing from the engineer as yet. Summary gone to WD with request for approval to proceed with new gearbox, new lower front arms and replacement brake pipes as they've corroded.
I hope WD is feeling generous today. Luxury Cover will have paid for itself and some if this lots comes of!!!
