Slow to pull away when cold

Following my previous thread my D3 is now struggling to pull away when cold, throttle to the floor but low Rev and won't accelerate. After 60-90 seconds it's fine but obviously concerned at what this could be.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated

Cheers

Do you have your EGR valve blanked?

Sticking turbo actuator Thumbs Up
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Mine does this occasionally and my EGR valves aren't blanked, from what I've been told from the guys on here is that my EGR valves are sticking so I'm in the process of getting mine blanked hoping that this will cure the problem.

HI There,

I have an 2006 disco which did the same. I was told that a fault code and symptoms needed £1200 of work doing to it by a main garage to change the egr and relevant parts etc etc, after to speaking to a local guy from lookers after work he said do the following, it normally solves the sluggish problem.

Took the egr valve pipes off the manifold and put a 1p coin in between the pipe and the manifold (both sides), clamp back up and the jobs done (4no 8mm hex bolts). Also, i recommend taking the pressure sensor out of the top of the egr butterfly housing on top of the engine and give this a good clean as it cokes up bad (tx20 head)

Result!! - Cost was 10 minutes at lunch and 2no 1p coins!

-Mpg has gone up
-gear change is better through pressure sensor working properly
-not sluggish from start

Please don't leave the 1p coin in there for long. The mixture is corrosive on copper and after a while the coin breaks down, resulting in copper parts being eaten by the engine. Not good for it!

I've removed a few that have been blanked in this way and it's a really dangerous long term practice.
Get them blanked properly.
I'm guessing that you didn't remove the butterfly valve either? It really need to be removed to stop it closing up and because EGR valves are blocked off, it has the potential to draw oil into places you really don't want it to!

Let me know if you want it blanking properly. It's really not that much. Thumbs Up

Same symptoms on mine. My garage has had a look/plugged it in and said one of me egr's is shot. As I have a 2009 model and get a really good deal from my garage, I've gone down the route of replacing the egr instead of blanking. It's only one egr that has gone, but should I get them to replace the other one too?

Do both, they will be in the same condition. I replaced both of mine a year ago myself and they were the same. They have 2 tiny little bearings inside them. These break up over time and cause the valve to stick. Its a bad design really.
