Warranty Direct & AA Parts and Garage Cover

Hi

I'm renewing my insurance and one of the things I'm looking into is breakdown cover. I've got a policy with Warranty Direct which has worked well, but I see that the AA offers Parts & Garage Cover. The limit per claim is £500, with a £35 excess, but I wonder whether anyone else has looked into this and what their thoughts are?

I've got it ,only used it once for alternator, AA took it to local garage of my choice the mechanic confirmed alt was kaput contacted the aa who authorised the garage to complete repair picked car up next day paid £35 and back on road.

I also have the keep moving option so had hire car for three days as well.

not as good as full blown warranty but a lot cheaper and not age or mileage related but must be serviced by a vat reg garage

to me its worth it imho

For a claim to be validated, the patrol must attend the car

£500 is enough to cover alternator, belt tensioner, wheel bearings etc, but no use at all for catastrophic failures Thumbs Up

So is it worth the money with Warranty Direct picking up the slack (I.e. Failures which cost more than the #500 limit?)?

A lot would depend on your mileage and the cover you can get, definately don't go for both, and definately don't bother with WD if you can't get wear and tear included.

After that it's down to how lucky you feel!

I have the AA cover because my mileage is too high for WD to cover me. Not yet used it so can't really comment!

As Mikey said though, you need to be attended to by an AA patrol in order to use the Parts and Garage cover.

Servicing needs to be up to scratch but I seem to remember being told it doesn't have to be with a VAT registered garage anymore, and neither do the repairs need to be done at a VAT registered garage.

I'm going to check this for myself now though!!

Confused
