Black Forest performance upgrade |
|
Black Forest 4x4 wrote:Great news for Discover 3 owners – Black Forest 4x4 are now offering an upgrade to your engine management system that delivers better power, more torque and improved fuel efficiency.
Available on the Discovery 3 TDV6, the upgrade gives drivers an incredible boost without lengthy or expensive modifications.
“It’s amazing to think that you can drive in and out in the same day with a performance improvement of around 30kw, not to mention the fuel savings,†Group Service Manager Scott Newman said of the upgrade.
Through complex retuning of the fuel and ignition curves of the Discovery 3, vast improvements are able to be achieved with a minimum of fuss. any locals know anything about this and what type/brand it is.

Very interesting Catweasel.
New Disco arrives on Wed, so I need to start sorting out modifications. Haven't heard or seen what you arequoting, but it will be interesting to see who's mod they are using. If it's the local DP Chip or Diesel Tune, they seem to be quoting a fair bit less in outputs than Torque Tune or the other UK mob. Look forward to finding out more.
Cheers,
Martin

Perth Onwers - "Chip" Options |
|
I've been speaking with Franzone Motors in Perth, an independent Landrover service group and they are agents for a UK developed remap / chip - www.autologic-diagnos.co.uk which claims same sort of improvements as Turbochip (ie around 191 to 240 hp) or 140 to 178Kw and up to 400pnds/ft torque (or 540nm); The guy at Franzone I spoke to has a TDV6 Disco 3 and raves about it; I'll ahve adrive of his and see if its worth pusruing ($1100). MY2010 D4 HSE 3.0, e-diff, 19inch MTR's; LLAMS Height adjustor, LR f & r light guards, LR side steps, LR bright finish side door mouldings; LR/Mantec G4 front bash plate, LR G4 Winch kit, Warn 9500lb Winch; GOE compressor guard, Uniden UHF, LR bright finish roof rails, LR G4 driving light kit, LR G4 ladder, 4 x extra rear compartment 12V sockets, Traxide dual battery system and Optima Yellowtop battery, ORS drawer system / fridge slide, LED rear compartment lighting.

Is this upgrade genuine or aftermarket? As aftermarket upgrade will conflict with warrnty. Or is it just an internal software upgrade?

concrete cowboy, there are no 'genuine' upgrades, they're all aftermarket. Yes, some LR dealers will happily sell you one (often at an inflated price) but they're still not genuine LR products The End

Dropped into Blackforest 4X4 today and the performance upgrade they are marketing is Autologicc. Approx $1000 installed - couple of hours for the job. They also guarantee that if it is 'overwritten' at some time in the future they will reinstall for only the cost of labour (and not charge for that if they are used for servicing).
They provided me with a set of graphs on Torque and HP which are good - 400ftlbs in the old language max (approx 540Kw). Seems to be the easiest option for SA owners wanting to upgrade.

Yes, this is the same as what I had done at Franzone Motors in Perth....540nm of torque / 173kw. Drives superbly - $1000...... plus GST ofcourse I understand it mirrors Turbochip in all respects. Dieseltune in AUS are able to offer tunes similar to Torq-Tune - NOT the same product, but comparable levels of performance and they also have the ability to offer remaps to suit your requirements
