Petrol V6 - First Service Question |
|
Hi
Just got the disco (an MY07) out of its first service and noticed a difference in the amount of power on tap when taking it out (had an V6 SE MY06 loan car and the difference in power was very noticeable), also when I went to check the fuel economy it is sitting around 20L/100ks - I'm drive her pretty gently and average 15-16L - I was wondering if anyone knew if there is an ECU remap as part of the first service?
I had them replace the windscreen wipers whilst I was there too - the new ones seem judder free which is a nice change.

Hi MJ, The increase in fuel consumption during the service is probably due to the tech's resetting the computer back to zero and then leaving it idling for a while while they go through normal service procedure. (I picked up my car after a service and it was sitting around 35L suggesting it had been idling for a while and then had the pants thrshed off it around the block a couple of times). I suggest your figures will go back to 15-16L again if you reset yourself and start again.
Cheers
Moby What's the point.... it all comes out in the wash anyway!

You're right - I was a bit preemptive - fuel economy has gone back to 15L. Not sure what the increase in power is from - maybe a reset of the gear ratios from the adaptive settings due to the guys giving it a thrash after the service - either way I gave myself a bit of a shock when I gunned it to catch a set of lights after putting it in sport mode - it usually drops one cog but it dropped a couple and revved up a couple of thousand revs higher than I normally take it. Caught me by surprise and I made the lights with a bit of time to spare
