From my basic understanding of the sensor, I'd say the sensor circuit is open and needs closing.

I've not seen one but would imagine that the sensor uses the disc itself to create a short when the pad's worn down far enough, in which case it would suggest a short? and theeeeennn......???

I was trying to remember how mine was working when the light came on. I was pretty sure that the light would go off when I put the brakes on - when the circuit was made with the disc. When I took my foot off the brake, the light would go on again.
The circuit is initially broken by a small loop of copper at the end of the wire being worn away as the pad wears.

Stu, is the gear display slow to react? I seem to recall this happening to Chesters at Weardale, and TFC came up with a fix procedure? Something to do with selecting all gears in sequence.
I'm really not sure, but worth a search

That's what I thought.
Gareth - I've been through TFC's gear change thing before. Didn't notice if it was out slow tonight, but I'll check in the a.m. Disco 5 HSE Lux
