I picked up a pheasant bird strike front of the wife's 2023 Tiguan a few days ago and thought nothing of it. I thought it had hit the wing/wing mirror but all seemed fine when I had a quick glance at it.
Walked past the car this morning and staring at me was a huge hole in the driver's headlight lens (you could put your fist through it) It's an LED Matrix thing-me-bob.
Rang VW for a new headlight (told the missus £500 to £750 easy).
Wait for it .............. £2,004 including VAT Daylight robbery, or in this case, night time robbery!
Insurance claim it is then
that was one of my fears with my 2017 Tiguan I had last year. That also had the amazing Matrix LED headlights that if i had a ''minor'' non structural front end accident the car could be written off just for the cost of the headlights and a radar
These lights are certainly going to make the cars early write-off candidates when they enter the second and third hand markets. That, and candidates for insurance premium hikes once people start nicking lights to facilitate repairs... Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

the radar on 2017 onwards VW Tiguan is behind the VW grill badge. I was told by a local VW specialist they are almost £1500 to buy, fit and calibrate. Add that to the cost of the headlights, cornering fog lights plus bumper, grill and maybe a bonnet as well as all the little bits and your into over 50% of the value of a pre 2020 car that may have low miles and perfect in every other way.2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

Yep, in for a centre box and rear box tomorrow on my VW T5 - £918
Its not blowing just rusty and I want a clean MOT once in its life.
I was told that for my late 2009 T5 it was cheaper to buy an aftermarket sports exhaust than it was to get a new standard one. Luckily it was just surface rust and back box outer casing corrosion so not blowing. I just left it as it was until I sold it.
Snap. I was going to get a custom stainless made but the workmanship at a local recommended provider is shocking and I dodged a bullet. Left it too late to resolve now, so VW it is.
Mot due Jan 6 and its never had a clean MOT, but tester's generally comment how clean the Cali is. I've changed MOT stations so hoping for a better response but its becoming a joke now. Cali wants for nothing.

And yet if you buy a Skoda (same kit, basically) adding radar cruise control is about £300.
Funny that.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk
