Chinese Lanterns should definitely be made illegal. They are a serious fire hazard, just ask the zoo in Germany where an animal house burned down and 5 chimpanzees and 2 orangutans and many bats and birds burnt to death Uncle Ray's spare wheel protector

You're lucky if you can pull into a lay-by up here for them.
Exactly.

The NC500 seems to be a good boost for the tourism industry, which is one of Scotland’s most important sectors.

For those of us that live in areas plagued by Camper Vans and the like, the little or negligible economic benefit they bring has to be offset against the pestilence that accompanies them or put it another way, they ain’t worth the bother and they spoil what they come to see! There is a growing majority of locals that wish they’d never heard of the NC500!

Spanning Perthshire, Stirling and Scotland’s two National Parks, the Heart 200 route is an exciting initiative which takes in some of the country’s best assets. New ideas like this are an excellent example of innovation within Scotland’s tourism industry to keep up with ever-changing consumer demands and ensure visitors continue to have memorable experiences.
These visitors represent a major benefit to areas across Scotland. Tourism is more than a holiday experience it is the heartbeat of the Scottish economy and touches every community, generating income, jobs and social change.

One is employed to attract Tourism, the other has to live there and put up with the effects. Which one should prevail? The employed or the residents? Bear in mind without the residents, the place dies.

I was born and bred and continue to live in a city that depends on tourism. It's the lifeblood of the place and I enjoy the events, exhibitions, festivals, concerts etc. etc. So I'm probably not the best person to answer that question.
I'd concentrate on the benefits and look for opportunities that me or my family could utilise for personal gain. No jobs eventually lead to no residents, other than the retired, second home owners or those who don't work. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

This is vehicle access to our local Waste Water Treatment Works, the trees and bushes are now well established.

The inshot usually has 2 motorhomes in it at any time during the year and also see quite a few unload tents and camp on top of the tanks there.
I'm not sure they understand where they are
Also used as a rubbish dump by them.

Motor Homes and the like are a scourge. You can’t justify the money visitors spend to spoil the place.
As Sea Raider says, most bring the food et al with them. They spend very little. As for the locals benefitting, I don’t see much of it. The hotels, of which there are few and even less village shops, employ seasonal EU workers that drift in and out of the place.
Anyway Moo, a forum trip, yes I’d make an exception, could meet up. I am only a mile or two from the NC500.
Yesterday I was out. Looking at a building plot for a new build. I am in two minds, I wanted Loch shore frontage. Okay view that said.
