Picked up my Seat Leon "loaner" this afternoon. It's a good car, but not really comparable to the Landmark.
I still can't think of a better replacement for the D4, so I'll almost certainly be getting another.
I did briefly consider compromising on practicality and getting a FFRR, but I'd want an EU6 diesel and that would be too pricey.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

The only fossil in my D4 is me!
A frustrating day today, due to the fact that on Sunday JLR Accident Management told me that as long as I could provided the insurance details of my neighbour, they'd provide me with a D4 or FFRR as a loan car. As my NFU policy provides only a "normal" car as a loaner, I instructed JLR to remove my D4 from the scene and take it to the LR main dealer that I now use.
On Monday, as I suspected, JLR refused me a loan car due to the uncertainty of liability. Fair enough. However, NFU had also got involved at this stage and appointed a company to recover my vehicle, which of course had already been recovered. There's more to this, but to cut a very long story short, one that I had to to sort out all of this morning., the D4 was eventually tracked down to the Bristol HQ of the recovery company that took it on Sunday.
The good news is that I was able to go there and strip out the extras that I'd added such as RLD protector, hatch bag, sump guard etc. In the panic to get it away from the land slide, that was and still is highly unstable and as the ns glass was out and thus it wasn't secure, I only had time to take out all the loose belongings that I lug about.
So it's not yet been assessed. I took a friend who has been in the motor trade repairing, selling cars and parts and servicing them all his adult life. He did think that due to the amount that would have to be payed out if it was a total loss, there was a chance that it would be repaired, but that was very much dependant on if it was possible to both buy and replace roof sections. Something he and I simply didn't know.
Tomorrow it should be collected and taken to the depot of the company that NFU contract to assess damage and hopefully I'll get the answer before the end of the week.
So I'm still in limbo.
I'm not even going to start to tell you about the fiasco of my neighbours insurance company. I'd probably burst a blood vessel. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

One day I will. Aside from the potential to burst open all major arteries, due to potential litigation, it's best I don't elaborate yet.
All I'll say is that my local Councillor and Bath council have put a lot of time and effort in to this. Despite this, nowt has happened yet and we still have tons of masonry and soil balanced precariously above the back of our house. Another heavy downpour could well shift it. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

D4 will not be assessed until tomorrow afternoon at the earliest, more likely Friday or even Monday though.
Having seen it in the daylight yesterday, the glass roof is cracked, the top of the tail gate is dented (no big deal) but the roof panel behind this is dented and of course there's a tear, plus other dents in roof panel that runs above the top of the n/s doors. The rear n/s door and entire n/s rearmost panel is toast.
A fair bit of interior trim on the N/S has been smashed up.
I don't really want it back. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE
