Scotland 2016 Discovery 4 3.0 TDV6 Landmark LE Auto ZanzibarDiscovery 4

I use it on-road when parking on a gradient so as not to depend on the wee pawl in the autobox.
Off-road I use it every time I stop to get out. No problems so far.

Once using my MY2010 using hill descent control down a mile long mountain track, the EPB errored at the bottom of the hill, seemingly to do with the HDC. After a reset or two the brakes bound for the next few miles but eventually came right again.

I'd be asking myself why the sales man is telling you this info, maybe they already had an issue with this car and the EHB and just don't want you to use it as its not been fixed properly and they don't want the repair bill later, Question

My local indie has really got the EPB operation down to a fine art now (I showed him DiscoMikey's report) and he says that it is crucial that the operating mechanism must be absolutely free and well lubricated. He also states that I should use the EPB as normal so that it is kept working. Regular servicing and adjustment is crucial. Also, when stopping on a hill, you should apply the EPB and then release the footbrake before selecting 'park' as this will take the strain off the little pawl in the gearbox.
There, that's my tuppence worth! Thumbs Up

On auto on a hill, put EPB on, put it on P, and let go of the brake pedal. You will hear and feel the EPB shoes stop it.

United Kingdom 2008 Discovery 3 TDV6 XS Manual Siberian SilverDiscovery 3

Mine's a manual, so I pretty much have to use it all the time. Every year it starts squeaking and my mpg goes down a bit, so I have it cleaned out by my indy. It screeched once too, so then I took out the fuse and got it cleaned up soon after.
