To be honest, at 10 years old what you have is to be expected. In the past 12 months i've had the following done:
Lower wish bones all round
New rear ARB
New propshaft
New front bearings
New rear bearings
New rear rose joints
New clutch and DMF
New clutch pedal and hydraulics
New front discs and pads
New rear discs and Pads
Whole new EPB (shoes, plates, cables and modulator)
New lower steering UJ
4 new Goodyear Duratracs (which rumble slightly at 70mph)
Coming up:
New injectors in two weeks time.
The big service with belts which I will do in 4000miles which takes it to 208000 miles. I'll also get the original oil pump changed at the same time.
My car is ridiculously reliable but I do look after it mechanically. I have a good garage that knows one end of a spanner from the other and I replace anything when it needs to be replaced. I never wait until things break. Where necessary I always replace in pairs and always use OEM or original LR.
Following my disappointment with the D5, I've decided to keep the old bus for another two years and see what other hybrid options come out. My view is that its cheaper to keep my car and maintain well than lose huge depreciation on a new D4, something that doesn't really give me any more than I have now.
Personally I would find a good indi or use one of the site sponsors on here and get it done. At least you know it will be a good car whereas you could buy another dog of a car again if you were unlucky.New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)

When owning any premium vehicle you have to be on top of maintenance and ideally apply preventive maintenance to remain ahead of the curve. Secondhand prices does not mean cheap maintenance bills, the maintenance costs reflect the original purchase price and not the vehicle value 12 years down the line.
Big and heavy cars are not kind to the mechanical parts and really need servicing more regularly than the original and rather optimistic service schedule.
If you need help doing work yourself then I am always willing to lend a hand.

SWMBO has relented and said I can fix it
I have been given details of a scrap dealer nearby who is really into his land rovers and can probably help me source parts so will try and see him later this week to get an idea of prices etc.

It is an issue with luxury models - the guy that does some LR work for me refuses to look at an L322 if he hasnt seen it already/knows it, as he has too many folks turning up with them that they have brought for mondeo money and then cant afford the parts bill to get them fixed.
That said, a lot of what you listed you could sort yourself for just the price of the parts - dont chuck it in just yet.

Before you see a "crap dealer " put a wanted ad on here for the parts you need. You will be surprised what people have in their garage on this forum. Don't give up, I didn't and mine should have a few years left in her. Without this forum I would have given up long ago. TBH for the possibility of changing parts again quickly I would avoid used parts that are un refurbished and also any "pattern" parts to keep the price down. I would always go for either Genuine or OEM parts from a reputable supplier - in the area there is Duckworths at Mkt.Rasen, Rimmer Bros at Bracebridge or order online from Advance Factors.Must stop buying shiny toys....
