I had a very expensive Blackvue that stopped working after a year.
Went for a Transcend DrivePro 220 this time. It's been reliable and has decent quality video with gps. The camera is a little bulkier but maybe the tight packaging is why the Blackvue cooked Alfa Romeo Giulietta 2.0 JTDM Veloce

I have a couple of Mio Mivue's that have been very good and reliable so far. (probably cursed it now)! Very happy with them at present and they were nicely priced. Not at cheap end of scale, but not at expensive end either.
I wouldn't of minded trying Next Base, as they have a wide variety of models built for all different budgets. Whenever I watch various crash cam footage on 'You-tube', the images always look of a very high quality compared to some other makes. Very important for capturing registration details!

At the moment I am using a DDpai M6+ and I have never seen anything like it for performance.
Look at Techmoan's review, I bought mine after seeing it.
Takes TWO 128Gb micro SD cards... Also has GPS so you can retrace your route,
on google afterwards. You can also switch the GPS off to prevend proof of speeding...
It works for over a year now. Survived scorching heat in the Algarve, no sweat..

Nextbase 412. Have the same in both cars. Mine is permanently plugged into the right hand socket in my D4. No issues for over 15 months.
Example of footage (some renegade balaclava'd up motorbiker who pulled out in front of us in Birmingham...) here..
The camera never lies as they say but just watch out as they also record audio!
Great bits of kit, not cheap but you get what you pay for in the main.

I have the Nextbase 312 and the quality is excellent. It is wired directly into the fuse box using a kit that Nextbase provide. Its a very professional installation done by Halfords. I'm so impressed that I will get them installed on my wife and daughter's car. New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)

First one was ok but a pain at night as could not switch off the screen and various lights.
Changed to the DDpai M6+ on recommendation and it is so much better than the old one with no lights visible at all.
