D3 side step edging

Hi wise ones & happy Easter.

The edgings to my side steps have both become very discoloured, chipped and also cracked. Has anyone on here tried the edging strips that are available on the bay, e.g. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LAND-ROVER-DISCO...SwnHZYkz87

And if so, do they fit over the existing or does the existing have to come off, and if so, how?

Thanks in advance
 Best Regards,
Dave.

Old trims come off. They're held by short pop rivets from underneath/ behind.
A little gentle easing around curved bits as fixing each hole.
Suggest wire brush and hammerite paint to step while trim off

Full steps less than £100 now, get some new ones and before you put them on, strip them down (very easy) and powder coat everything Thumbs Up

Mark, thx I'll look into that!

Trailhound, mine are a bit past cleaning in places, bits of the 'aluminium' are actually broken off.
 Best Regards,
Dave.

New steps then. Mine only cost £98 18 months back and look like new after a cleanup.

Trailhound, what did you use to clean the aluminium trim? Looks great.

Where can I get new ones which would fit the trim on? Rivets on one side have disintegrated.
