Afternoon All,
So.. the story begins last July when I collected my shiny D4 XS MY12 From Hunters un Derby. I was told it had a year MOT and I also had MOT Warranty so that anything it fail on (within reason) on the first MOT is covered by the dealer.. Happy Days!
So I received a text last week saying my MOT was due and to give them a call to book it I.
I thought I would check exactly what date it ran out so I could book accordingly..
EXPIRED 30th MARCH 2017 ! .
So a swift call to Hunters and the sales Rep I dealt with.. ''So sorry Sir, we will cover the cost of the MOT''
So dropped off yesterday with a Disco Sport as a replacement - Wife Hates it!
Had a call late in the afternoon saying its failed..
Reason(s) for failure:
Parking brake: efficiency below requirements (3.7.B.7)
Electronic parking brake warning indicates a malfunction (3.1.7)
So the Light wasn't on when we took it in, I do use the park brake occasionally but not all the time. so I had to agree to pay an hours investigatory labour charge if it wasn't covered by the warranty. I agreed as the vehicle was serviced by a very trust indy last week.
So we left it with them and drove off in our DS
I had a call today saying that the reason for failure was because 'there was non genuine discs and shoes were recently fitted on the rear and were not very good', of course I asked how recent the technician thought they were.. he said no older than 3 months! well this really isn't true.
I've done the front pads and it's had a service at the indy (Rockingham Land Rovers, Nr Corby), I have known the owners at RLR for a very long time and trust them explicitly.
So I argued the case and been told that all repairs will be covered by the warranty, GOOD!
Clearly the previous owners have fitted non genuine rear brakes, If id known this I would have replaced with better quality as I find brakes are pretty important at times..
Total cost of MOT and repairs £0 - Winner!
Now cant wait to drop this DS(hit) off and get my beloved D4 back!
I assume the light was illuminated when they applied the park brake on the rollers and it broke free and spun the wheels? Disco4 MY16 SDV6 Landmark Black

Of course and i could be wrong here applying the epb whilst moving also applies the normal brakes as the car thinks you are in trouble?

When it's all sorted ask for it to be programmed auto on when ignition turned off
It keeps the mechanism operational. BREXIT - done properly.
Right now ...We need Government - not Politics

I think you're right after some research I found that most do use a tapley meter..
I was going to check the dashcam.. but it appears it was disconnected and formatted during it's stay
Looks like all they did was strip the rear brakes and roughen up the shoes..
The confusing thing is, they called me to tell me the issue, I went online to see what the failures were and it had the failed mot but also a passed one! this is before I gave any go ahead to do any work?
They called me at 10am to tell me the issues and told me the car wouldn't be ready until 4pm.. but yet the pass cert was already filled in online. Disco4 MY16 SDV6 Landmark Black

I'm guessing because of it being under warranty they just did the work as it wouldn't cost you anything anyway?
