I think a blanket 4x4 tax in Australia would be a very brave decision for a polly to make. Did you think I would leave you crying,

He will be moderated by the party. I think if they sign up to Kyoto he will be satisfied with that. He will be able to gloat on that for years. Did you think I would leave you crying,

No, I don't think Labor will introduce a 4x4 tax, if they win, some of them drive one themselves! Signing the Kyoto protocol will cost us though. I am bucking the trend in that climate change is man made and that CO2 emissions is a major contributor (CO2 make up less than 1% of the earths atmosphere and in the medievel times, it was 4 times what it is currently!!).
However, I believe we should be more energy efficient and recycle.

I dont think any one will be introducing a 4x4 tax as to many people wil come forward showing that the average holden/ford is no greener than your 4x4.
I also give global warming caused by us very little credit.
its a cycle that we have no control over.
Carbon trading just another way to make $$.
Carbon tax a new form of revenue HEY we can charge more.
bring on the warm bring on the rising sea level , Australia just may get its inland sea back then our climate will be temprate, rainfall will be wide spread.

IMHO A 4X4 tax from garrett is likely. It's got nothing to do with whether 4WD's are more or less efficient than sedans. It's got everything to do with placating the ignorant, leftist greens and, more importantly, revenue raising. Labor govts have traditionally introduced waves of indirect taxes to pay for not-very-well-thought-out infrastructure projects. Have a nice day!

If Labour get in you are movng from a government that is skeptical about mans effect on global warming to onr that has swallowed the lot.
As in UK a Labour government will not give a s t about the bush and Rudd will have to give something to the traditional left wing of the party.
Expect the politics of envy to pop up it's ugly head. Remember Latham?
Could be worse we could have a Latham government. “There are only three sports: bullfighting, motor racing, and mountaineering; all the rest are merely gamesâ€
