Yeah there's a few, seen a couple this morning whilst passing through.
They must go into hiding when I'm out and about then Despite travelling all over the country to Caravan Club, Commercial sites and Caravan Rallies, I've still never seen one towing
I've seen one towing, it was on the Edinburgh city bypass, hauling a Defender. He didn't seem to have problems with it judging by the speed he was traveling.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

Whilst I dislike everything about the new Discovery, even I don't think Gerry McGovern could have designed out its towing ability, along with its heritage.
So I am sure even the smaller engined versions will still tow very well.Andy

I hope you're right there Andy - the FFRR shares a similar platform, if not the "styling".
Chris Bangle's 7 Series makes an interesting pairing with the D5; I do hope they can't make a breeding pair, or we're in deep poo! 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2

I towed down through France with 5 adults and a large TA caravan with no issues at various speeds and found it as stable as the D4 if not slightly better when passing lorries etc
As for seeing them on the road. I drove yesterday from Romney Marsh to Crawley and on the way up saw 11. Didn't see any on way back as it was darkMY17 D5 1st Edition Namib Orange

Spotted 3 on the Isle of Wight this weekend. Two in Bembridge and one in Seaview.
Unless of course it was the same car being moved round the island to make it look like there were more.

Well somebody did something to the 3.0lt one I tested with my caravan on the back, as it was positively dangerous. There also seems to have been a lot of other guys on the D5 forum who had stability issues which like me, couldn't be attributed to incorrect loading or tyre pressures etc.
There may well have been an issue which has now been engineered out by JLR as I remember somebody saying that production had been stopped briefly, as flexing of the aluminium body had been identified during towing ?

Looks like it can do the same job as my 12.5 year old 212,000 D3.
We went to our French home in the Dordogne and came back via Versailles and Belgium. We did nearly 3000 miles and averaged 29.2 mpg. There were three of us plus the dog, three bikes on the back, my permanently fitted expo rack, an expedition fridge and all our clobber (we don't travel light!). We came back even heavier after a trip to the local Brocante for furniture - you'd be amazed at what you can fit in the boot and on the roof with clever packing.
The old bus barrelled along happily keeping us in great comfort maintaining 85mph and sometimes up to 100 when needed. The 3/4g on my daughters phone and IPad kept her happy and Google maps on my phone got us everywhere we needed to go. We even streamed BBC radio and Spotify through the stereo.
