Ah one of our favourite bits of road heading towards Pityoulish. Mind you it’s not weather like that when we are there. Twenty minutes from there to Nethy. Did you have binding brakes? 2014 MY Discovery XS Indus Silver. Sadly gone. Second last LR of forty eight years continuous ownership.

The driver of the D1 wasn't really going to warp, though 20 mins might be an stretch looking at the time stamps. It just felt it. On that road you can tell the locals from the tourists, he was deffo the latter.

In 2015 I did an off-roading jolly to Poland with anglefire & co. I phoned SWMBO to tell her it was mid 20s centigrade first thing in the morning. She was not impressed as it was +2c walking the dogs in Grantoon. In early August!!!!
She was not a happy bunny!!

No.1 son had to leave his car over the Mam yesterday as there was snow on hail on ice, so he could only make it half way up before turning back.
Luckily I had to buy some very nice Thule/Konig chains for the hire car in Italy and they fit our CRV so they'll be kept ready for any further imminent heavy snow.Black 05 TDV6 HSE Auto

Seems like an Eastly wind is on the way as from around Thursday next week, 22nd Feb, with temps dropping to freezing but windchill will make it feel much lower. Then from next Sunday Southern Uk in particular, and for a change, forecast to get snow and plenty of it. Could be some epic snow fall as well and , if so, expect plenty of travel disruption. Should be interesting to hear the Countryfile forecast for the coming week but it’s from the 25th onwards that the fun really starts.

Heard that this morning. Apparently "the beast from the east" is coming and the last time it came was in 2010 when we had all the snow 8)Previous Discos

I think the 2010 event was earlier in the year?
Then again I might be wrong because I was skiing in France in minus 20! And that would put it at half term time.
Well... Looked out the window and lots of white stuff all over the D4.
seagulls!!!! If they carried bovine tuberculosis I'd be leading the call to have them shot..

There's even a rumour that we may ge 'up to 10cm' in the East of England - would be nice as it normally passes us by. I'm not holding my breath anyhow..
Drove back from Italy at the end of half-term, heavy snow all the way up through Bavaria and on to Stuttgart. Autobahn was at a very slow crawl around Ulm so took a diversion we knew about from previous jams - roads were interesting, especially as the D2s tyres aren't particularly AT, but everyone was moving along without bother (the locals will be on winter rubber). Did see one car parked up on the Armco - Honda CRV, British plates! Polizei was in attendance...
Next morning just outside Stuttgart:

Careful what you wish for. This is forecast for early - mid next week. It's going to be chaos down sauff.
