Very fortunate that a driveshaft had popped out and needs to be replaced.
Getting fixed tomorrow and AA picking up most of the bill under my breakdown repair cover.
Happy days

Feel like I had a lucky escape this time as it was the near side front driveshaft that had failed completely.
With the recent sunroof flooding issue and this now sorted I'm pretty sure the D3 will stay with us until it dies. Lots out there that could replace it bit with three kids, a mother in law and a small dog I'm comfortable in the knowledge that pretty much every surface is wipe clean! Now on 168k miles it will still take 3 years to crack 200k at which point I might reconsider

Also forgot to add it was repaired by Rims Engineering in Teddington. Scott who runs the place is a very knowledgeable guy and turned it around in 2 days from when it was dropped off. Highly recommended

Noticed my EPB switch had become a bit sticky in operation so for £20 it was rude not to get a sliver D4 switch. Took all of 3 minutes to swap over and adds a nice touch to the interior

MOT passed with a few advisories but nothing major.
Prop has been diagnosed as faulty as centre rubber has disappeared so will replace with OEM item.
Some oil leak found so needs a little investigation.
New boot struts fitted when it was in for its service which have made a big difference!

New prop fitted yesterday along with a whole host of new front steering components and two new front tyres.
Will hopefully be able to pop out and get the alignment done tomorrow as it's a bit wonky as things stand!

Not much to update apart from a new air con condenser fitted yesterday after finding a huge hole in the old one.
Since the car was SORN for a few months the only problem with it now is when I turn right it makes an odd screeching/squealing noise. Only when turning right and only when driving 10+ MPH.

As much fun as it is only turning left it does add some time to a journey!
Was convinced it was the disc guard on the front drivers side so off it came but noise is till there!

Upgraded the head unit to an all singing all dancing android unit and it has brought the car right up to date.
Need to fit the reverse camera but now have everything fitted and working after a slight panic when a fuse blew and the radio stopped working.
Being totally honest its a bit slower than the latest smartphones but totally fine for use in the car and the best bit is because of the way its wired in you can skip tracks on Spotify etc from the steering wheel even through all the sound comes from the aux connection. I've hidden the aux connection in the cubby box for easy access and just need to tidy up the aux connector itself as a circuit board is now exposed.
For £250 it is amazing and has taken years off the car without any permanent mods. Old 4 x 4 screen could be refitted quite easily. It looks totally OEM and very happy with the fit. I've hidden the Aux connector in the centre cubby but need to tidy it up a little.

The Disco has a little leak from the electrical connector on the gearbox so in it went this week for a change. Old plastic one off after 170k and new metal one on. Can't say it feels any different given it was flushed by Bodsy about 10k ago but knowing another bit of maintenance is now done is a a tick in the right box especially before winter

Could you share a link for where you got the screen unit upgrade that you did - considering this myself as at the moment I am using a PURE unit for DAB (very poor in anything but perfect weather) and bluetooth calls / streaming (works ok, but fiddly).
I assume it works in a similar way that it is a separate until that you plug into the aux port of the radio, hence avoids issues with the optics on the Harmann Kardon system ? I like the idea of a rear view camera - how does that work exactly is it an option you switch to, or is it automatic when you select reverse ?)

Have you got any more info on the screen upgrade please? Couldn’t get the link to work.
Also - I’ve been looking at replacing the rear view mirror for a camera one, since test driving the new defender I figured it would be a great little mod, and not very expensive either. I’ve found some that mount to the existing windscreen bracket rather than strapping to the original mirror.
I’ve been toying with the idea of the reversing camera but the common ways of achieving it (RRS mod) doesn’t do it for me.
