Van is Bailey Unicorn Madrid. Large (for caravan) bathroom, dinette, and lounge. No fixed bed - did not want to lose that space. Memory foam toppers on the seats when sleeping will be great given 7 weeks on the caravan. No back ache this morning. :
Down to Macon today as the weather there is better than the initial plan of staying at Dijon. Discovery was purring along yesterday at 1800 revs at 65mph averaging 21mph on the lie’ometer.2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

Early morning walk into Guignicourt for croissant and pain au chocolat. Past the village church

Then back on motorway to drive 5 hours down to Cluny in Beaujolais region through torrential rain. Good test of the “new” wiper motor from MMJ that I fitted a month back. Temperature dipped to 11 degrees a long way off the 27 yesterday.
Now pitched for next few days on top of a hill outside Dompiere Les Ormes in what was once an orchard. Great views from the pitch.

Warmed up nicely to 27degrees at Guingicourt where we stop for the night beside the Aisne river. Short stroll along river in morning for croissant.
Thats where I stay on outbound journeys and sometimes inbound its very handy and easy to pitch plus Beer & Restaurant.

Yes, great site with fab views. Quiet lane alongside is ideal for walking the dogs early and late in the day. Skipped the bread and croissant ordering in reception yesterday so will stroll into village for breakfast supplies.2005, TDV6 S, Auto, 190k miles, owned from new, V8 Brake Upgrade, Nancom Evo, RLD protector, BAS EGR blanking & Remap, separate ATF cooler, changing all the fluids ahead of time.

Grey start to the day but forecast to improve. With no rain due decided to look somewhere to walk. Coming back from the boulangerie we found the Mayor had kindly marked all the walks

If only it was this easy around UK villages where the OS map is required and a third of paths are overgrown. We did DL103 and then DL101. Very pleasant and no need to enter fields of inquisitive cows.
Weather improved as forecast if a little windy. Now preparing for dinner under blue skies.

Lots of memories following this. Thoroughly enjoying your updates. We can’t have these sorts of trips anymore due to my business and animals we look after, so this is the next best thing.

Touring the area today courtesy of a tourist info map in guide to the area. Mix of blue sky and cloud. Breakfast from the second boulangerie in the village - how can both survive?

Drive slowly around routes 2 and 3 and spent time in Cluny. Shame so little of the cathedral still stands. Picked up some local artisan produce for later.

Tranquil walk through the arboretum just outside Dompierre-les-Ormes. Saw the old railway line and station - never knew Beeching did his work on France as well.

Enjoying the flexibility of not working to a fixed itinerary. Just tried to book next site in the Ardeche for 4 nights but they don’t need a reservation as so quiet. We may stay 5 nights as we gained three nights by missing out Dijon which had too much rain!
Also enjoying not thinking about work and what I may be returning to. So far retirement gets my
So off to here tomorrow
