I think if more people stopped measuring window aperture mm, window rake angles, non-existent views of junctions, worrying about rear end that they rarely look at and even when you do it does become a non-event .....and just bloody drove the damn thing ....they would appreciate it far more of as decent motor than just being able to offer a negative armchair opinion upon.
Crass, patronising assumptions, like those above, really don't help.
To me, the all round visibility (particularly when off-road, at oblique junctions, when manoeuvring around farmyards etc.), ease of access for the driver and passengers, the driving position are important factors for a vehicle that I'll be driving c.25k miles pa in.
The D3/4 have helped to make my pastimes and sports even more enjoyable. This is principally due to the design of the split tailgate and the "square" boot aperture and space. All I've had to do to make it even better for me is to fit AT tyres.
I don't like the styling of the D5, particularly the rear, but that wouldn't stop me buying one and naturally I understand that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder". It is probably a factor though, as if the D5 was achingly beautiful, I'm sure it would help to ease the pain of the compromises I'd be making over the D4.
Of course all of the above are "First World Issues", if I really had to I could cope well enough with the Austin Maxi that I learnt to drive in.
The point though, which some can't grasp, is that the D5 doesn't suit my needs nearly as well as the D4, is more expensive (on a spec. for spec. basis) and I don't like how it looks. Hence, why I didn't buy one last year when my 2016 Landmark got smashed up. It would have been a lot easier to have bought a D5, NFU Mutual even offered to supply me with one. Instead I spent several days finding the right used Landmark.
None of the above can be overcome by "just driving the bloody thing".
ETA: To answer the question, I'm not that bothered either way. If you don't like the D5 sub section, don't look at it. I can see that this sub-section might detract from the D5 forum though. So it's for Martin to decide. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

To be fair, Ruben's English is probably a great deal better than most of our Spanish is! 2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4

Never commented on a D5 thread, but I pointed out a D5 to my car mad seven year old son. He replied it looked sad due to the DRL lights.
Im sorry but I grinned and though to myself - you haven't seen the back...Last of the D4 HSE...

I'm surpbut I am delighted to see how they judge my English, it makes me very happy to read that ... the truth is that in my interventions there are say 75% of my own harvest and 25% of a translator....that's why this things happen ... nevertheless I try hard and improve little by little ... lately in the afternoon I ride with my headphones nanzana tuning Ulster radio ... you know ... linguistic immersion, little by littke... by this myself!

Ruben, I knew what you meant and agree with you. I prefer the exterior and interior styling of the original D3. The engine, suspension/brake and technology improvements on the D4 (particularly the EU6 version) made up for the loss though.
It was why I hung on to the D3 for so long though. 2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

I was generalising in one passionate paragraph ...it's not all about you
I’m homeless, no Velar forum. There is a couple but not as well run as Martins. The D5 forum is helpful as the software issues are similar and on here I find out what I’m missing by selling my D4.
Maybe we need a Velar & F Pace joint forum, same car underneath. In Spain - 2018 F Pace - Down and out's Velar
In UK - Dare not say on this Forum
Gone - Lots of Lode Lane vehicles.

Absolutely DG!
