Buy a car with not perfect Service book? |
|
Hi,
I am looking at a 2014 Disco 4 HSE that is for sale but the service book is not perfect.
This is how it looks:
16/06/2014 - 8 miles (12km)
12/02/2016 - 23 600 miles (37600km)
23/02/2017 - 38900 miles (62600km)
And now it is due again.
All the services are done by Land Rover but it looks like the former owner just been lazy.
Should I be aware? Does a bit over in miles when the service is due matter when it comes to a new car like that?
Thanks for your help!

the big concern would be if it all went pear shaped.............I believe the first thing they look at for any warranty claim or goodwill gesture is service history, it opens the door for the door for them to decline anything! Joined the BMWX5 45e group

Maybe speak to ‘Landrover’ to see if their records match, they might have serviced more, but the book wasn’t visible on the day. 2016 D4 SDV6 Landmark (Gone)

Dealers are often guilty of making mistakes in service books, indeed my book has a stamp missing, but I have the invoice and it’s on their system. Check invoices and LR on line history.

I don't think it makes any difference tbh, I know someone who bought a 64 reg from a main dealer, engine has gone bang and they will only pay the first £1000 out of £10000 bill, and only if they do the work- needless to say£6000 later a second hand engine has gone in.

FWIW I think that a 2016 car where the engine has gone bang and everybody from the sales and manufacturing organization pretends it doesn’t matter or just don’t give a is absolutely terrible.
There is no way anyone should argue that a barely 2 year old vehicle is at its end of engineering or design life in that time.
Unless, someone drives it 24x7 as a taxi and it has 300000 km on it in that time....
