Replacing Front and Rear Brake Pads on D3,

The car is at the stealers for some warranty work and Guy Salmon have rang to say the front and rear brake pads are at 90% wear, and do I want them to replace them while its in, quoting £330 all in!!!!

I have in the past fitted pads into other cars I have had, a 30 minute job, is this an easy job to do myself on the D3, or will I have to bite the bullet and pay the cash???

Cheers all Very Happy

Hi

A place called autocraft in Brum are selling front and rear pads for £25 a set (so £50 all in), genuine pads, but dont come with new bolts or springs. Worth it or not?

I had front, rear pads and sensor wiring done at Lakeland in Torver for £230 including resetting the warning light. It is easy to do the pads but apparently needs a dealer reset if the warning light has come on so this needs costing in..

Just had a chat with my local LR independent (used to do all my LR work up until the D3), and he's just quoted me £45 labour to do both front and rear, plus parts (genuine LR). Ain't worth me getting the jack out of the garage for that, so in its going.

No warning reset needed, just a new sensor wire

Phew - thought so - when the sensor shorts out on the disc it gives the warning. Presumed it was, but with LR you never know Rolling Eyes

Al - who do you use?

I used Ultimate Land Rover, who were fairly good over at Netherton a month or so back on the wifes Freelander, just wondering if you had a better suggestion Question

cheers

Pads changed all round Very Happy

Thanks to DFlo for the help Thumbs Up, Saint Nick for a superb supply effort Thumbs Up (P.S. got something for you Rolling Eyes) and to Gareth and the others for the helpful threads Smile

Gave up on trying to find where the sensor leads ended up Shocked I'm going to cut and shut Wink

However, all was fine until I got cut up by a Porsche - slammed on the brakes to avoid running over him and now I've got the amber park brake warning light up. Switched off and left for a while (until the red park brake light went out), but the amber one comes straight back up when the car is restarted Sad

Any alternative to the main stealers like Kwik Fit or ATS for having pads & discs changed??? They might be easy to do but the consequences when (rather than if) I screw it up are too large!!! Shocked Shocked
