No heat or airco on drivers side, not the blend motor
Currently I have no heat or cold air coming from the left side of the vehicle (LHD).
The left temperature blend motor is working, and the flaps do move. (Also changed it just to be sure)
But not when I turn the left temperature dial. Nothing happens.
When inspecting the flap it seems it's always to start in the closed position.
I do get a code logged for the left temperature motor, but it's not the motor itself, tried 3 different ones, all same error.
When I turn the right control, the left blend motor does move to compensate the offset with the right one at a certain point. In this situation I do get slightly colder air, but only because the flap opens a little bit.
When I set the right control to 28C the flap opens fully and suddenly I have very cold air on the left but warm (as expected) on the right side.
To me this sounds illogical because:
Looking at the airflow diagram, a fully opened flap (nr 7) means airflow through the heater matrix is restricted, so indeed cold air from the condenser. So a fully closed flap means air goes through the heater matrix. I have no heated air in that case. Maybe the heater matrix is clogged. But that doesn't explain why it behaves as it currently does.
So why does the flap on the left open fully when I set it to max temp on the right? It should go to a more closed position to have warmer air. And why does it not respond to the left temperature control?
Anyone any ideas where to look next? I replaced the complete ATCM with a working one from another vehicle, same issues, so not the ATCM itself. Self test of the HVAC completes with no errors. All other flaps and motors work as expected.

I have the same problem on mine. Do you have the partnumber for the pipe? Is it a big job to get access to it?

First of all. Check you air filter. It's locating behind glove box.
Have you tried to clean up heater radiator?
If not try to clean before (if you dont know, aks me how). Or buy and install a new one (better to do that).
(Here in Russia, some guys recommend to change heater radiator once in 2 year).
About pipes - you dont need to buy a new one.
Open the hood, look at far left side (right side of battery). You can see two pipes standing close to each other. You can take off plastic engine cover to get more access.
On the pipes you can find plastic lock. Press it on two sides and pull over carefully. Coolant can come over (dont worry, just refill if needed).
When pipes are disconnected connect them back but change place where they connected.
If it doesn't help you need to place them back how there were becouse of the radiator.
Sorry for my english.

Heater core could be your problem. Left lower side gets clogged up with sediment over time.

I have not tried to clean the clean heater radiatior(matrix?). How do you clean it?
I will try to change the pipes and see if that helps.
Your english is good enough for a native norwegian speaker. Thanks

perhaps the swapping the pipes over - thus reversing the flow though the matrix ? - is flushing it, so getting it working again. as to where the muck is going … that's tomorrow's problem

Yes and no.
Pipes must be connected right way (enter and exit).
Cleaning matrix is simple.
1) Find somewhere two hoses (1-2 meter long with same diameter)
2) Disconect coolant pipes
3) Connect hoses to radiator aliminium radiators pipes
4) Put the end of hose to bucket (or some other thing)
5) take another hose and blow into it )) you need to take coolant out of radiator first.
6) When radiator is empty pour in something like Tiret Turbo (or another pipe cleaning fluid)
6.1) Be carefull. Some kind of fluid can react with aliminium (radiator) and than all you can do is install a new one.
7) Wait 30 minutes
8) Connect any pump (for examle you can use karcher washer) to one hose (it must be connected to aliminium "enter" of radiator.
9) Make pump (or karcher) take and drop water to the same bucket (water should come trought radiator)
10) Turn on pump (or karcher).
11) Wait 30 minutes
12) Change "enter" and "exit" and start pumping again.
13) Watch how many things come over from radiator.
14) Stop pumping. Through durty water away. Clean radiator with clear water (with pumping also
15) Connect back coolant pipes
16) Fill coolant if needed.

I just faced the problem with the clogged heater core. Final bill was $2200 CAD to have it replaced with new unit at a local shop. If you can flush it yourself and avoid a replacement definitely give it a go. On the plus I now have heat on the left side but my wallet is much lighter.
