Yes, the issue is when there’s a problem and you’re abroad.
If I only drove around the UK, I would stick with LR and just keep the warranty going. For me, it is mainly the fear of being abroad. Yes LR assist will help but it can be a massive saga getting a hire car sorted; car picked up and repatriated etc. It doesn’t even have to be a big issue that can put the car out of action.
I do like the GL / GLS but worry if they’d have issues also. I’ve had two ML’s. Both did have problems but perhaps not as many as LR. Maybe I’m unlucky.

I moved on 2 years ago after things went from bad to worse with LR ownership and haven't looked back - coming up to 20k miles without needing visit to dealer apart from 1st service last Sep and 2nd next month
Just taxed it for another year free and averaged 80 mpg since I got it - cheapest trouble free motor I've owned ever
I don't worry about where I park it or what I chuck in it like I used to either - £25k new after discounts and tax breaks compared to £60k I paid for last RRS and not visiting dealer every other month with issues helps
I gave LR enough chances but no regrets now reading how people are suffering and my own experiences - owned 5 new LRs from 2000-10 and had no complaints but 2010-16 was a nightmare and i should of bailed sooner - 1st RRS dropped off ramp, 2nd RRS delivered with wrong spec interior then trashed by dealer instead of ordering correct spec, 3rd RRS back to dealer 3 times to fix loose subwoofer before I gave up after tailgate damaged and repaired each time, DS quarantined 3 months at factory with no apology or explanation and the worst built LR I've ever seen when it arrived
The technology in the phev is more complicated than anything LR have built but it all works seamlessly and without issues
I've got another 3 years of full warranty left and 5 years battery but doesn't look like I need it anyway so far
Normally I'm looking to change by now but just not bothered as it's faultless so why risk it 8)Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Agree. Bought a new D1 (95), new D2 (99) and then went BMWs / Volvos for the next 16years. BMWs now replaced with a PHEV.
Previous defender / current D3 V8 are now just a bit of fun. Really cant see us buying an new LR anytime soon. SVR appeals but sense prevails.

PHEV seems to be the way forward for now, particularly if range anxiety is an issue. Battery technology is improving as is infrastructure, so the long view is promising for these technologies. Pure EV's still have a way to go yet, but once they catch up it will be bye bye PHEV, Diesel, and Petrol Hybrid.
Perhaps ironically, Diesel will survive as it reverts back to where it traditionally more or less began, namely heavy transport and Marine applications.

just got back they said its a turbo at only 30k?
i used to be a mechanic and when they failed for me they went silent and ceased, although they did get much louder until this point of total failiure, mine just got really loud perhaps it was just pre ceasing ??? sounded wierd more like an electric motor speeding up or turbo hoses poped off.
just got word direct impeller VANES collapsed hence sound so new turbo on tuesday

After 6 Land Rovers, over 7 1/2 years and a total of over 260,000 miles, I’ve experienced absolutely no reliability or manufacturer support reason to move on.2011 - 2015: 3 x FL2
2015 - 2017: 2 x D4
2017 to date: FFRR SDV8
2023 to date: FL2 as a second car
2021 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200
2022 to date: Hinckley built ‘14 Triumph Trophy 1200 & sidecar!

A good enough reason by anybody's standards to stay with the family, but much as I like my D3 I seem to be drawn to one of these.
Its like an itch which wont leave me alone. I have worked on a few of these over the years and when maintained properly they'll go on forever. Just as well really, as when they decide to give up you'd need a second mortgage just for the parts.
Still, I'm keeping the D3, but how do I convince SWIMBO we need one of these too? yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

A bit left field... but how about a New Musso or Rexton... Tows 3.5t. looks decent and looks good value for money.
And now comes with a 7 year /150k Warranty! That says to me they have confidence in their own product.
Might be worth a look

Mr Red, have you ever had any occasion to have to return your cars? Any reason.... ? Or even had to phone them up or pop in?? And 100 % satisfaction from ordering until selling ???
And.. how long have you kept them for ??
Some people are blinded.. just saying

OK, had a quick look, nice and does seem good value but a bit too generic looking for me. To be honest I wouldn't buy new anyway, and besides I like the look and build quality of older machines. (well some of them )yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ
