Really getting the feeling I want to do this mod!!
Found these on the bay: LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER L322 2010- 2012 LCD INSTRUMENT CLUSTER NEW LR034159
Expensive but advertised as new. Would this mean they would just need the current cluster data read to them (i.e the eeprom in them is effectively blank)
Looks like even used ones are going for £250+ Morris Dancers: Drinkers with A Dance Problem

Hi James,
I was wondering if you still offer the service of IC reprograming for the digtal/tft instrument cluster?
I got a RRSS 4.2 MY 2005, recently picked up a speed off 2010 RR and I am interested in upgrading my speedo.
Many thanks

I’m pretty sure you can’t do this mod on a Disco 3 or 2005-09 RRS due to CAN architecture. 012MY RRS 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography (Current)

It's a difficult one to judge there is limited info available online, but if you tube is to be believed a company in Russia offers it as a service.
There is only one way to find out, try and see (as long as CCF backed up worth case, need a few new modules if they get bricked).

I can’t find any Disco 3 or 05 to 09 RRS where the L322 TFT clocks have been retro fitted. I’m pretty sure it’s only 2010 on as the CAN is not compatible on earlier cars. 012MY RRS 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography (Current)

Here is another L320 MY 2006 with TFT out of L405.
So it can be done, the question is how!

I stand corrected! so they must be using a CAN converter as the car runs on one speed and the clocks on another. You will probably need to find someone who can make a board and programme a chip such as an Arduino. 012MY RRS 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography (Current)

That's one of the plans a sync device to adress the speed (however I have been throught every work shop manual and I cant find the spec for the CAN speed for L320 05-09 & 09-13, the manuals just say High speed and medium speed bus communicate with the instruments through the CJB and LIN bus from the stock).
Since I cant find the exact spec I am lucky enough to know a few JLR engineer and I have started asking around to see if they can know they guy that worked on the sport 05-13 or have general first hand CAN knowledge from that era.
One thing I do know is that when Ford took over they made alot sync devices to enable co existence with legacy BMW comms in the vehicle.
Investigations continue, once I find out the exact parameters I am dealing with then i can start figuring out a solution.

Thank you very much gstuarta I appreciate the info.
Had a read throught and seams that RRS 05-09 & 09-13 and D3 & D4 have the same High and Medium speed CAN going to the instruments.
That's one thing that get me every one is saying different speed CAN but all information I find say they are the same speed CAN systems.
I think I need to find more info on pin assignment at the rear of the instrument clusters for D4/RRS(09-13) and the doner RR l322 (MY 10).
Let's see what I can dig up.
Any input is appreciated by the way gents so feel free to chip in.

@dgarside - The only option I have is "Insrtument skin design" this has Design 1 through to 15.
Am I looking at the wrong this here? Any help appreciated.

Interested to see this thread has restarted
I've obtained a cluster to try the mod. The problem (?) I have with it is when I go to read the eeprom I only get about 12 lines of code, all of which seems rubbish.
I know my reader is functioning correctly as I've used it to read successfully a BIOS chip coding on a computer board.
Anyone any thoughts ? Has the eeprom on the instrument cluster been wiped ? Can I just rewrite with the info from my existing standard cluster ? Morris Dancers: Drinkers with A Dance Problem
