Yep fully agree, but fan removal is not the hard part of the operation, the 3 days after trying to solve the starting and running issues are 😄
If its been off recently then its ok.
If its been on for 100K miles and 10 years its a bloody pain

I thought mine was clean, but that is stunning. What are you using to make it so shiny?

Because the altenator had a thick layer of encrusted mud all over it from the ditch the previous owner had got it stuck in. Suprised it still works.
I removed about 40kg of dried mud and leaves from around the front and sides of the engine bay. Which I'm sure runs better for it.
The bearings in the alternator are now noisy becaus of it so will be replacing it soon.08 D3 TDV6 SE

Might be a better plan to take the alternator off and give it a strip down, clean and lubricate, you could then possibly get a hose down there, not a jet wash.
Believe it or not this stuff below:
Wash with a damp/wet sponge or cloth, don't dry just spray the above on the damp engine leave to dry. It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

No I disagree, the correct tool and it spins off easily unless corroded threads as with anything, removed easily at 150k
